I would let 6 go as cakes, just so you have something to munch on regardless. If you ever extra, play around with them if you want.

Some people will tell you casing is really easy. Let me say its easy to screw up, especially as a beginner. Everyone will tell you the biggest thing is to be patient. For me, the second biggest thing is to just keep things simple. So I recommend not casing the first 6. And for every additional batch, until your casings are flying, keep a couple jars as cakes.

This way your next crop will be puuuurfect.

Unless you don't plan another crop. In that case (no pun intended) go PF harvest and eat
with least risk of contams and failure.
