Dunk TEK one more time......

I still have a couple more questions on the dunk tek. I made the BRF cakes with the moisture reservoir in the middle. If I am injecting water into the cake's core is dunking still necessary? Is one better than the other? Thanks

No, dunking should no longer be necessary. They both serve to rehydrate the cakes...ughm...sure!

You can also add some bleach to clean up a slightly contaminated cake...search for the thread if you want too...since mushrooms are 90% moisture this really helps to boost yeilds. It's pretty simple to harvest 7 or 8grams off a single 1/2pint PF cake these days...really easy too!

A friend has done both, and both work very well. However, with dunking, you just dip it in a water (or water/bleach/vinegar 100:1:2) bath for 24 hours and forget about it. With the drinking straw method, you have to constantly fill the straw. On the last cake I dunked, my humidity was a little too high in the terrarium and this HUGE fatass sprouted off this cake. I mean HUGE!! Like 2 inches in diameter with a tiny, .25" diameter cap. It just kept getting fatter and fatter. Then, I dropped the humidity to 93% and it took off! Grew about 5 inches long with this huge fat butt. I cant wait to split this beauty with my lady...:)

i think you get better results dunking, but i'm prejudiced since i developed the tek in the 1st place.
