Dunking Tek

Could someone explain this tek for me. Do i only dunk them after the first flush or when i'm about to take the subtrate out of the jar and put it on the perlite?

Also, The PF Tek doesn't use lids. Is that a good idea or should i poke the 4 holes in the jar cover...thanks!

i thought the dunk tek was for the first flush. about 9-12 hour is good.
use any lids. you can use the canning lids as well.

I haven't seen the "Dunk Tek" but have seen dunking work,
for first flush and later ones, simple as this:
Drop cake in a new ziplock, add distilled water, gently
squeeze out extra air, and zip closed. Put it in the frig
overnight, birth it in the morning.
I guess really this is dunking and cold shocking. If you don't
want to cold shock, leave it out of the frig.

You can dunk before the first flush...... as soon as the substrate is 100% colonized..... It will make your first flush more profuse I`ve always found. I just submerse the cake with a small saucer on top and some kind of weight..... another cup of water on the saucer works fine. Dunk for 12 hours and place in the terrarium.....Kaboom !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck

Do you think it would be good, therefore, to dunk the jars before you crumble them into the casing? I think the chunks would then be very hydrated and ready for a big push of mycellium into the casing.

Nice thinking, Orchidman. That's one I've been pondering recently, too. Lemme know if you have any success with it. I'm not working with clones, so anything I find out will have a margin of error, but I'll let you know if/when I try it.

I'll let you know.  don't take this the wrong way, but don't call me "alien".  there's already a WELL established moderater here by that name.  you can just call me "Lord"  i s'pose i should change my handle now that i've learned enough to start posting, though in your case i wasn't much help :crazy:
