Man if your in flordia you better find some shrooms, seems like alot of people are having luck lately. Most found shrooms there seem to be cope. cyans. and of course cubensis.
Both will grow directly off the manure.

Swear I found cubes in grass-only explanation I have for the strange mushrooms I found. Its not hard to ID with all the internet knowledge and this fourm. I was very skeptical at first but a few Very good guys on here helped me and I found a few active's In Alberta, canada-I am sure be very easy in florida.
I am sure they would grow on new lawns, no doubt in my mind-look for newly planted grass-most of the time New lawns are Heavily watered, high nutrients and grow lots of mushrooms, if not treated with chemical's.......

Even though it's about foraging, I think the question is of interest to the cultivator.  Will regular yard grass work?  If one has a lawn it would be nice to known if it's possible to mow your own substrate.

It's an interesting question.  I think yes it probably would.  The seed and seed stalk at least, I don't know about the blades.  From what I read it seems they go for the fiberous material.  At least when the grass is seeding it would almost surely be a good substrate.

I never understand why these are called dung loving.  They are grass loving, and it just so happens that the belly of an ruminant animal is a great place for the spores to germinate.  It's less the poo and more the undigested fiber that makes manure a good substrate.
