i don't know, i think the proof lies in the ability to question whether he does or doesnt exist. people like kant, aquinas, plato and aristotle pondered over this to great length. a lot of it is sort of where and how the universe started, and if there was someone who started it, then who created that person? there must be contingent and necesary facts for all.

but away from that, kant said that existance is not a property that something/someone can or can not possess, so a perfect god cannot exist, because he holds properties, therefore must exist (i'll admit though, thes earguments are just christians manipulating a play on words to make their point)

but something cannot exist, because there is a concept, or there is no proof that it doesnt, because the universe is too big toclaim that it doesn't exist.

but basically, if you question that there is a god, and label it, then you are giving it credit to exist.

so therefore, the concept of god brings him into existence, and if he is questioned so much, and thought and talked about, then there must be something there (un-personifiable) and yeah, something.

i dunno, a lot of that i just regurgitated from my philosophy class... if you want to read an essay i wrote on god in life, then hit my "The meaning of life" post in R&P forum

hah.. now i'm going to regurgitate some stuff from my philosophy class.

what you are describing can be formalized into something called the Ontological Argument for the Existence of God. the premises are as follows:
1. Suppose that a Greatest Conceivable Being Exists in the mind, but not reality.
2. Existence in the mind is greater than existence in reality alone.
3. We can conceive of a Greatest Conceivable Being that exists in reality as well as the mind.
4. Therefore, there is a being (the second-mentioned GCB) greater than the Greatest Conceivable Being.
5. However, there cannot be a being greater than the Greatest Conceivable Being.
6. Therefore, it is false that the Greatest Conceivable Being exists in the mind alone and not in reality. And, since we have already agreed that the Greatest Conceivable Being at least exists in the mind, it must exist in reality as well. So: GOD EXISTS!

However, the problem with this argument, as you said, is that existence is not a predicate - rather, it is not just some quantifiable characteristic; thereby attacking the 2nd premise and the argument entirely.

One can also attack the form of the argument by simply substituting the Greatest Conceivable Being with the Greatest Conceivable Island (Gualino's Objection). So basically, doing that, you end up supposedly proving that the greatest conceivable island exists, which is bullshit. You could do the same with the greatest conceivable beer, lover, anything.

Basically these objections refute the argument that the mere concept of God brings him into existence.

no, there is plenty of proof for me, so i dont really carewhat the rest of the world thinks, i'm not going to try and shove my opinions down the worlds throat, i can just sit back and laugh at them

but yeah, its all a matter of faith, but whether or not you have EVIDENCE to back it up, is a different story. I dont have EVIDENCE (he wont let me have it) but ive seen plenty of shit thats enough to fool me.

All religions are similar take or add something and its been like that for thousands of years.

God in my opinion is a non existent energy that every culture has felt the need to worship, maybe to try and explain things, maybe to feel part of something.

God is morality, god is luck, god is love and sometimes god is hate, god is all those feelings and sensations mixed inside us, god is in our mind and nowhere else.
Therefor we are not an image of god, but rather god is an image of our own mind.

Edit: It is also my opinion that yahweh does not exist.
