Night Vision

How much do you think having night vision goggles would increase your finds/yields in the hunt?

They work best when mounted to a drone (computer controlled model airplane with GPS). You program it to fly a grid over the nearby area, and it plots a dot on the map when it sees an image that resembles cow patties full of white mushrooms.

At that point your best bet is to use google maps to plot the most efficient route between the patties.

Dude that is SO yesterday. Forget the drone, forget the gps. You can so just rent a satellite with thermal imagery and zero in on the heat from the mycelium like whoa.

I bought night a night vision monocular, but never have used it. The field that I was going to use it on, has not produced since. I now go during the day and hunt at my leisure in 2/3 fields that have no homes, and are protected by view.

I've been thinking about buying a pair of NV goggles for a while.... you can get a pair of generation 1 goggles for around $500 AUD. But, like most people out there, I have never actually used night vision.

Nushroom, how good is the nightvision technology. do you think it would work that well for mushroom hunting? exatly how much does it light up a forest on a clear/cloudy night?

If anyone else has any experience please, lemme know.

I think that knowing where good locations are by scouting them out during the day (and knowing the layout of the place ahead of time) would be more effective and cost efficient than randomly roaming unfamiliar territory with night vision goggles on.

Hi Shivy, You know as I noted above, I picked cubes int he night outside of Jacksonville, Florida with a pen flash light. battery ran out in ten minutes. Eventually, the full moon came out and I could see real good, the shapes of the large cubes in the manure.

However, again, farmers do shoot at objects o in their fields at night at times. I sure wouldn't ever do that again.

I used to have a nice pair of N.V. Goggles from my Uncle, who was in the service. I used them one time out shroom hunting, I could see the shrooms really well, but on my way out of the field I was blinded by a car, that sucked.

I've only been out hunting in the cow fields twice.

My overall results for the two times though, were 32 grams dry, no N.V. Goggles, and 56 grams dry, with the N.V. Goggles.
