Looking for a good digital camera

I'm looking for a digital camera,there's just to many to choose from.:confused:I'm looking for one that's less then $500.Is Nikon a good brand ?I'm going to buy it at Costco.

SONY cybershot DSC 70-80-100 very nice and 2-3bills. Very good camera. I don't know what you have to choose from at Costco-but check the Sony out.

Any Canon powershot model if you are looking for a great compact camera. I would recommend the SD500 or if you want to pay more, get one with image stabilization.

Choosing a camera really depends on your intentions.

Are you using it for artistic endeavors, or just to take snap shots of family, friends, occasions, etc.?

These are the cameras that I use, none of them are extremely compact...they won't fit in your pocket, but they take great pics. If you're looking for something more accommodating in the size department, really anything by canon, fuji film, or nikon has great choices. Go for at least 10x zoom, and 6-7 mega pixels.

Better Quality for Photography

Good Quality, (but not as good as the canon), and way better price.

Retardedly good camera, on sale

Funny time for this thread.

After alot of research I just bought a Canon Powershot A560 today...

I'm pretty amazed with it. Beautiful shots out of the box, and I think once I get the hang of all the different settings it has the potential to take some really awesome pictures.

And only $250, with a 4G memory card, which I'm told should hold in the neighborhood of 800 pictures...

At Costco the have a good deal on a Nikon 10 mega pixels, two lens , two memoy cards, a case for like $1,000.or the olympus stylus 720 SW water poof/shockpoof for less then $400. I going to mostly use it for shooting mushrooms.

Nikon is good for a all around camera, I have never used a digital Nikon though.

My girl has a Cannon Digi, and it does pretty good. We have had some awesome closeup nug shots with it.

It has a super macro function.
