digital cameras
    #3308291 -

Hi
im in the market for a digital camera
im trying to do art in Adobe Photoshop and I'd like a camera that works well and is compatable in that respect. Also something with alot of options. I really have no idea what I'm looking for, but if anyone has any suggestions let me know. Also nothing too expensive.

thanks!

Grav.

id recommend my digital camera, but its kinda' broken right now.
it wont allow me to take pictures during daylight. The pictures come out color-shot, as if there is too much light. It still works fine at night with the flash, though.
and whats even weirder is that the camera itself can take 15 second video footage, and THAT still works during the day.
maybe i took too many pictures of the sun ?

btw- my camera is a Toshiba PDR3310.

you can get it pretty cheap off Ebay now-a-days.

Fuji, all my best cams have been fujis.
Just get the best you can afford. They
outdate so damn quick.

Go for Nikon cams, I think. Good quality images.

Get Canon, I've got probably 15k+ invested in Canon and not a single problem ive had with my cameras in nearly 2 years use. Id suggest getting a a75 if you want a nice inexpensive camera and if you want somthing more expensive you could go with a Digital Rebel if you wanted somthing very nice.

Get a canon. Best digital cameras in any price range.

Also before buying any piece of personal electronics, do some research on it first.

you can't go wrong with a canon or nikon. though if you're planning on going with a nice digital slr, then i'd suggest going nikon (though i've never owned a canon digi slr before, i've heard of a lot of problems with them from friends who do own one - problem not with the low end cameras though). at the moment prices for a nikon d70 with 2 lens attachments are going for about 1200 US dollars which in my opinion is pretty good. with some vendors you can even find a bundle of the camera body, 2 lenses, a startup kit and a 512 or 1 gig compact flash card.

i really suggest checking out www.dpreview.com best camera reviews ever.

the D70 and Digital Rebel are very similar and the biggest difference between them is the lens. Other than those 2 cameras canon has better digital slrs in every category
20D- nikon has nothing to compete
1D Mark II - the d2h is pathetic in comparison
1Ds Mark II - d2x what?

I love my 1D Mark II.

Just bought a Sony Cyber-shot with a 512MB memory stick. It's one of those thin little cams. I needed something small like that for my snowboard trip this week. Heading up to Snowbird outside of SLC.

I just bought a Fujifilm S3100 for under $300. With its 4 megapixel capability and 6x optical zoom (get a tripod, btw), it takes excellent photos with great contrast and sharpness quite suitable for reference, basis for digital artwork, photographing artwork, or any general use. Only comes with a 16mb smart card though. I am very pleased with it for a inexpensive mid-range camera.

This one was $450 (marked down from 500). It has 5MP but only 3x zoom. I wanted it because it is so small. It's about the size of an altoids box except maybe a little thinner. You should get some more memory. It's pretty cheap right now.

I use an Olympus Stylus 400 Digital 4.0 Mega-Pixel, never had a problem in any way with it. it comes with good software and is compatible with Adobe. This camera is also very tough, it is built for active outdoor types.

my other cam is an Olympus Camedia w/ 10X optical zoom but only 2.1 MP. I'm gonna go on a hunt and try out my new cam this afternoon.

Yeah, I do need to buy more memory, but I am damn poor.

The only thing I really wish I could do was directly control shutter speed, rather than by its relation to flash & aperture. :/

Handheld long-perspective shots

Action shots of a hotly contested game of Twister (w/ flash)
