1st timer- sterilization techniques?

Hi there. I am going to start groing this summer, and from what I have read here, it seems like sterilization is key. Does anyone have any good sterilization techniques that you use that work?

If you are using brown rice flower and vermiculite, simply pressure cook for 45 minutes at 15 PSI, or boil for one hour. If you are using grains, you must pressure cook to reach sterilization.

yes. Thank you. Im using brf and vermiculite, and I dont have a pressure cooker, so ill boil.

i put a layer of aluminum foil UNDER the lid and then screw the top of the jar on loosely to sterilize ( boil), that way nothing will even get into that top layer of verm. intill i puncture it with the syringe. i thinnk that little bit helps.

beatle has a good idea with the foil, there is a "ramsey seal," which uses foil holding about 1/2" of verm on top of the substrate in the jar, I've used this and had good results. I've done it with nothing on top and had good luck too. Your enviroment and personal cleanliness is very important, dont handle the jars and play with the lids alot either, I like to wipe my jars off with alcohol every so often just for the hell of it.Just follow the tek to the letter, you may not hit 100% but success will snowball with practice.
