Shiitake?

Hola, I found this on a dead cedar post. The gills appear slightly yellowish. It has a stank sorta lemony kinda like that of a shiitake. I'm more familiar with dehydrated shiit's. There appears to be a viel as well.

this defintely isnt a shiitake. The spores come out kinda yellow cream colored.

That looks like Neolentinus lepideus, an edible mushroom with the great common name Train Wrecker. The spore print color you describe is also an important identification feature for this species. Another important feature you didn't mention, but should check, is that the gill edges aren't straight like most mushrooms - they're serrated. Look closely and you'll see what I mean. It is a relative of the Shiitake.

Look at the edges of the gills, if the gill edges are serrated it is probably a close relative of shiitake.
