which grateful dead keyboardist?

Which of the keys did you like best? Pigpen's blues? Constanten's trippy ass organ? Keith's harmonizing piano? Brent's all-out solos? or Vince's.... whatever he did good..

I personally think Brent was the "best" keyboard player, but that's not to say I like him the best, i prefer Keith, but Brent is second for sure.

I think I gotta go with Brent. He added an edgy darkness to the band that benefited the music IMO. Keith is a very close second though.

Keith, before he started to phone everything in.  1973?  :drooling:
1977?  Not so much.  After that probably Brent, just because he did so much and so well.  I actually like Vince, but mostly for those rare moments when he used the midi properly and deliberately.  Those shows are weird and special in their own right.

Is Bruce Hornsby an option?  If you've never heard any of the runs with Hornsby, do yourself a favor and get some.

same here, the 73/4-77 years are my favorite years so he gets big points for that. I love a lot of brent's songs like easy to love you and we can run, so he is first, with keith during those years a close second. does anyone know what years keith was with JGB tho? i love a lot of 70s jgb so if he did a lot of that it would give him more points in my mental book, but brent still wins.
