Someone hit my fucking car....

Goddamnit,
I got it about a month and half ago.
I'm on my way back from work and i'm just driving in my lane when this huge truck jerks left to try and change lanes, his little brush guard on the front broke off my sideview mirror (not clean though just broke about half of it OFF)
A little scratch down the side.
I guess the good news is I can get a new mirror and that about takes care of the damage, bad news is turns out my insurance expired on the fourth.
Anyone know if that'll have any outcome on me getting my shit fixed? He claimed responsability and gave me all his info, insurance, phone number, vin number etc. I dunno if my insurance even has to be involved.

Definitly fucked up my day though.

i think it might do unfortunately, depends on the law over there, over here if you not insured you not insured.thats it.police catch you your car gets crushed! bastards. but i think if you dont let the other guy know and pay yours asap you may well be fine. it worked for me in australia, it worked for me in germany so .....us over here are screwed when it comes to that kind of thing, think you guys have it a bit more easy?
dont worry, think good thoughts, act like nothings wrong and you'll be fine im sure.
if it was the uk you would have lost your car, had it recycled and gone to court for a huge fine maybe prison, and to top it off lost your licence for a while....

Yah, you're in a slight pickle right now. In order to file an insurance claim you need to file a police report, if you file a police report they're going to ask to see your insurance. If you're uninsured you've violated the law and you could see a nice ticket. In PA they impound your car if you don't have insurance, not sure how it works in your state.

and i just found a scratch with a chip of paint missing on the car i been driving today, not mine but i am insured for any vehicle, but as the owner of said vehicle is unaware of my use i think i shall be in shit too. oh well. nice to know others have car problems too. wish i took mine today instead my friends nice expensive one!

just be glad you dont live in the uk!

Fuck im stresssing.
I called his people and they took all the info and made a claim but they were asking for my insurance info, I just told them that my wife had run to the store and I didnt have it.
So she said they would have someone come out and inspect the damage and do an "investigation" which is the part that worries me.
Fucking insurance expired 7 fucking days ago! I cant believe it.
I didnt call the police during the wreck because he just gave up all his info and kept saying how sorry he was and how it was all his fault. Kinda looked scared of me, maybe cuz I drive and old Lincoln and he was in the ghetto.
Kept saying he didnt know his way around. Oh well, I guess I just have to wait and see now. The sideview mirror is just a fragment left, thing is lincolns are made with the rearview kinda attached and its the same color as the car and all, not just one you can buy at autozone or something.
fuck fuck fuck.
Got the car less than 2 months ago.

why would you make a claim for 30$ worth of damage in the first place.. you said just a mirror and some little scratches right?

If his side view is electric, which im pretty sure it is, it's a little more expensive then 30 bucks. Also, paintwork and dent removal can be pretty damn pricey too.

thats why i asked what kind of car it was.. personally i wouldnt care about scratches but my car is pretty beat.

It's a lincoln mark 8, nothings cheap on licolns.
The mirror is attached to the body and has the same paint and everything as the car, also its electric.
Then the paint being fucked up wont come cheap. Its a black scratch from a grill guard running from my passenger door to the rear quarter panel.
If you can find a sideview mirror for a lincoln mark 8 tho for 30 bucks please let me know. Passenger side that is.

easy, let them do their inspection, add as much extra as possible on to it. dont mention the insurance, and it will be cool. i was in bother with those guys about a crash i had that the guy claimed wasnt his fault(it was) the inspection is them getting ready to pay.....and figuring out what for, so rack it up(just dont be cheeky)
but pay up asap!
only thing is legal cover wont cover you for accidents before you pay so make sure you never let it slip that it was out.
act cool.like you got every right in the world to and they will pay up, esp if he already informed them.

Yeah that was kinda the game plan, just dont bring up the insurance if possible but if I have to i'll have it renewed by Monday, just gotta hope that if they run the policy number they wont notice that 1 week gap.
I dunno they're gonna inspect it while i'm at work so I actually wont even have to talk to the people which is cool. Hopefully they either already called him or he called first and just admited like he did with me that it was no biggie and his fault (he's in an old ass pickup with a big brush guard, and his trucks all rusting and stuff).
I'll see how it goes, dont have a sideview for a while though which I hope doesnt cause any more shit to happen.
Fucking stressing though, I gotta see if my homeboy will come over and drop me off some weed.

Oddest damn thing... I have six Lincoln Mark VII sidemirrors, all for $30, but they are all driver's side! :smile:

My issue at the time of the accident is my pistols always in my car so... didnt want the police to get too nosy.

I've found wives are normally right when they tell you shit like that though, you just wont ever admit it until way later.

she is right, i did feel soooooo much better until today, my last day of sobriety which ended asap. but yeah she knows best, im wrong and should just shut up. but i love being wasted. i think i should blame her now for not enjoying it as much!
well i would go to jail for having my swiss army knife and using it in defence here now, so count yourself lucky. if i had a corkscrew in my glovebox thats a concealed weapon!

Shit. My first gun charge only was 75 days (trustee you get 3 for 1 so I did less than a month) no court costs no probation, then my second gun charge was 300 dollars court costs, turn the gun over to the state, and 2 days time served in jail.
I'm just not wanting a third because i'm tired of losing guns to the cops and I have a good job and little baby now. Dont need that shit.
UK sounds like the law sucks though.
