Normally we grow on MANURE, either horse or cow. Pine shavings are antifungal and used to control odors. Either pick up manure from the field where it's properly aged and free of shavings or find another source.

Go check it out - my source has both pure manure and manure mixed with shavings. When they scoop the poo out each day, some comes from the stables (where the pine shaving are) and some comes from the fields/tracks without the shavings.

You should see piles with and without shavings, just take from the pure poo piles.
