Fuck gas PRICES!!

THese gas guys are playing with us right now and everyone knows it...thers no reasone to raise the prises other than to see how much americans will spend until we rally together and bring them down...
The barrels of oil were going for 80 dollars a barrel back when gas was 3.05 but guess what the barrels are going for 62-65 now and it is right at three where i live...
SO SCREW THESE GUYS THERE TESTING US RIGHT NOW and itpisses me off!!!

There are several common misconceptions in this thread.

First of all, American oil companies refuse to invest money in a new, clean refinery while they're raking in record profits. They have no government pressure to do so, so they continue making gasoline with their grandfathered, dirty refineries.

Second, when comparing gasoline prices with other countries, you have to subtract out taxes first. Taxes are used by the government to do such things as encourage the oil companies to build cleaner refineries and to pay for cleaner alternative technologies. I did the math in 2005 and I found that we actually pay more in the US than in some European countries for gasoline. Remember, once you subtract out the taxes, everything goes to the oil companies (gas station owners make pennies per gallon).

Also, leaving out taxes, we have massive economies of scale in the US. Many things are cheaper here just because we have a huge population. For instance, if Planters can make 10,000 tins of these delicious cashews, they can charge less than if they could only make 1,000. Despite there being the EU, there are smaller economies of scale in Europe so prices are naturally higher.

We still pay less than they do.
