hello, well i have done caseings and a FEW cakes, I knocked up some half pints on 5/28, they have been fully colonized( at least on the outside) since a week ago, I wanted to put them out to pin, had them out ,and for a reason(wich I cant divulge here) I ended up putting them back in there jars, but I did notice that there was no bruising at all, anywhere I touched it , no blue coloring, well these are PB and CK strains, I remember with my amazons one touch and they would turn blue, so I am wondering, maybe this is because the cakes arent fully colonized inside? the phsycoactives dont start to form in the fungus until after it has effectivaly attained almost al lthe food supply? just wondered I know that you cannot extract phsycoatives from the cakes with cranberry juice until after at least a pin set, becuase it is a waste of time, any thoughts? they didnt even start to pin either and they were out in the pod for about 4 days.
to dry? not fully colonized?

highschool biology.

as mycelium matures, it begins to send chemical messages that tell the cells when all the food has effectivly been captured and when it is time to make babies.

somewhere in the colonization process, when food is available, but space to grow into is in short supply, the cells become multi-nucleic (having more than one nucleus in the cell.)

when pinset is initiated, the cells begin passing spare nuclei and food forward through mouthlike holes on the ends of each connected cell. this accounts for how some mushrooms have such explosive growth in the fruitbodies.

there is a relationship between multinucleic mycelium cells and the production of the active indoles. little of this is well understood.

little of your message was understood. no offense tchy. i read somewhere that even the mycellium has psychoactives in it. people have been known to eat cakes or extracts from the cakes and they bruise blue too. so i would imagine that the psychedelic components are present at every stage.

phrozen, you had it better than i did, i never got to do any experiments in boilogy, just stack after fu#king stack of premade worksheets, the teacher never had to do a thing but talk and grade papers, wich i had that job, no real work.

more on topic:
i think it's strain related. i've notices some strains tend to begin bruising earlier than others. as far as the science of it i couldn't tell you.
