Mycellium Production Vs Fungus production
    #427308 - 10/16/01 12:02 PM (23 years, 4 months ago)

I have been working with this stuff for almost a year now, only reason im in this forum is to ask about a *new method
(new to me anyhow). I have found the biggest problem in cultivation to be the actual production of the mushies. up to this point i have minimal hassle, except with contamination, but mycellium has much more forgiving enviroment range.
So i was thinking, mycellium has psylocibin in it eh? why not mass produce mycellium, (much easier than mushies, much less time,) and then extract the psylocibe with some sort of solvent? it seems relatively simple process,
then again you wouldnt have nice pretty mushrooms, which dont get me wrong, i love my mushrooms like my children, but if the mushies are the children what power lies in the parent the mycellium.
i would like to try some of this extract, which would be less toxic than mushies also, and if takin with MAOI could cause very intense trips on relatively small amts?
any ideas comments questions? just thought id throw this one out there, see if anyone has tried it

Well from what I heard the mushrooms produce more goodies than the mycelium. I think there is a book or some written information on the subject. Its called " How to produce 5000 doses of organic psilocybin in a small room every week"

Heres a link.

Do a search, this has allready been discussed

"I have found the biggest problem in cultivation to be the actual production of the mushies. up to this point i have minimal hassle, except with contamination, but mycellium has much more forgiving enviroment range. "
The only major problem I have ever heard of with P.C is CO2, as temp/light is relatively easy (room temp works fine), although other strains are not as tolorant.
Dealing with CO2 is not that difficult, most P.C. will grow under amazingly deplorable conditions. I have seen mycelium denied for over a week (no light, no air exchange) produce, dispite malformed caps, relatively impressive yields (third flush..).

"then again you wouldnt have nice pretty mushrooms, which dont get me wrong, i love my mushrooms like my children, but if the mushies are the children what power lies in the parent the mycellium. "
Not quite, there is _generaly more material in the fruitbody than the mycelium when you subtract the bulk from the substrate, not to mention that most strains produce less psiloc(in|ybin) in the mycelium than the fruitbody per unit mass.

"i would like to try some of this extract, which would be less toxic than mushies also, and if takin with MAOI could cause very intense trips on relatively small amts? "
With MAOI's it will be more intense, yes. But that is the case with any dose of psilocin. Why not fruit and then extract (water works fine) from the remaining mycelium.. best of both..
