Here's what to do...

First, determine the DC voltage and amperage of the computer fan. I'm looking at one I have in my collection of spare parts, and it's 12 volts, 0.14 amps.

Second, get a DC transformer. Radio shack has 'em, but perhaps a thrift store would have one cheaper. Just make sure you have the right voltage, and that it outputs DC, not AC. The amperage doesn't need to match exactly, as long as it's in the ball park.

Hope that helps!
Finally, cut the plug-in connector off of the wire on the transformer, and connect the ends to the fan leads. You'll have to match the polarity to get the fan to spin in the right direction. If you wire it up and it either doesn't spin or spins the opposite way, just flip the wires.

Why do'nt you just get a cool mist.......... it'll circulate the air for you @ around 20 dollars. The adapter itself is going to cost that much and yu'll still have to worry about humidity.

I found my latest one in a thrift store for 5 bucks. Works perfectly. Most thrift stores will have an outlet you can plug stuff into to make sure it runs before you buy it. Try Goodwill, or St. Vincent DePauls, or Salvation Army. Ditto for aquarium heaters, heating pads, pressure cookers, and dehydrators.
