yup.

Truth is, most games will come out for both systems, thats why it doesn't make much sense owning more than one of them.

When I read that I was blown away by it. It's just downright wrong.

The PS3s motion sensing is terrible and because it's the PS3 developers implement any sort of motion sensing as an afterthought anyways. This could change in the future, maybe, but as of now nobody should even look at that as a pro or con, it just simply is almost a non-feature.

There is no ultimate system, one is not better than the other. You guys can say that all you want, and argue it till the end of the day, but we're talking about opinions here.

It's all about what you want and need from a system. What kind of games you like to play as well.

So, ask yourself, do you care much about graphics? If so the Wii is not for you. Do you care about online gaming? If so then the 360 is going to be your best choice. Do you care about massive game franchises? If so, then pick the system with the franchise you like the most.

Back to the beginning of my post though. The Wii isn't current gen. The Wii is beyond current gen. You hear this next gen craziness well, the Wii isn't even in a generation, it's completely alone in it's own category. A lot of people say well the Wii-mote is just a gimmick. Well, those people are insane.

I have been gaming my entire life. I'm as hardcore gamer as you can get before it becomes a problem than one needs to deal with. There was a time when innovation was around every other corner in gaming. When first person shooters could still have something up their sleeves, when new genres were still being created. I've noticed however that now innovation is almost looked down upon.

I say this because every other month there's a new WW2 FPS. A New MMORPG that claims to be 4th generation and ends up being another Everquest clone.

Halo 2? Halo what...Anyone whos been playing PC FPS's knows that Halo 2, while a great game and very polished, is just more of the same.

And thats exactly what you'll be getting with a PS3 and Xbox 360, more of the same. Don't get me wrong, there are great games for the 360, games like Viva Pinata which are in a class of their own. And there's nothing wrong with great games like Halo 2 that don't do anything new but still do everything old right. It's just...I've been playing games like Halo 2 for years before Halo 2 existed.

What I'm trying to say is, and this is a common thought among a lot of hardcore gamers, while they can say all they want about this new batch of systems being Next-gen, that only applies to the systems. The games aren't evolving, they aren't next-gen. They're just more of the same with better graphics.

The Wii hasn't even begun to truly show you what gaming can be. Shit, maybe games like Cooking Mama aren't your thing, but I'll be fucked if anything like that shows up on either one of the other consoles. The Wii is REFRESHING. It's like a breath of fresh air. I work at blockbuster so I've played pretty much every game thats out on the Wii, and there's no doubt about it, most of them suck. Look at the PS3s line up though, if I even had 600 dollars to blow on that ugly overpowered machine I wouldn't even have any games to play.

Let me real quick say that the Wii has a lot of limitations too. First off Nintendo just isn't good with online games. The Game cube offered no online support. The DS has online support which makes a person like me want to fucking break it in half. Not to mention that it's ALWAYS going to be geared towards everyone, which isn't to say there are ONLY kid and family games on the Wii. But you're probably going to have to be a fan of Mario, Zelda, and Kirby to REALLY fall in love with the Wii. Thats just how it goes with Nintendo systems. Also while I was initially VERY excited about their classic game download system, the games are WAY overpriced. It's very hard to justify buying Super Mario brothers for 5 dollars when it can be emulated on almost ANY system out there for free, and that goes for every single game that can be purchased from them.

But man...Just five minutes of Wario Ware and you'll understand why I laugh at the idea of PS3 and 360 being even in the same LEAGUE as the Wii when it comes to Innovation.

Anyways, to sum all of this up...If you want to play online, buy a 360. If you want to play the biggest franchises with the best graphics around, buy a PS3. If you want games that don't even fit into current genre labels, if you want something new, refreshing and innovative, If you want to feel like you're ACTUALLY playing a next gen game, get a Wii.

First thing, for 8 posts that was a great one. Second, the Wiimote is certainly not the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was a great gamble by Nintendo and has paid off well. I, owning a Wii and PS3, can tell you I found the Wiimote to get annoying very quickly. Yeah Wii games are fun, but are so for the novelty of something different. I think the Wii will fall to much the same fate as all recent trends have (See furby, yoyos, etc.). It is an unfortunate byproduct of current society. The Wii bucks the norm, which gains it notoriety in the short term, but makes it doomed to fail in the long term. I think their implementation of trying to get a user into a game was kind of half baked and could have been implemented in a much better way. The PS3 motion sensing is extremely half baked and ill supported as you mentioned.

Either way, whether you agree with me or not, the Wii is enjoyable sometimes just like any gaming console. Take this post with a grain of salt and have a nice day.

I agree with you, however I think that the frustration lies in the programming of the games and not within the Wii-mote. I say this because while most of the games out for the Wii so far are very frustrating when it comes to controls, games like Wario-Ware are WAY more gratifying and refreshing then they are frustrating.

You may be right with the trend thing, but only time will tell. As of now Wiis are selling like hot-cakes.

Thats really what it all comes down to, time. I really believe that once more developers get the hang of the Wii-mote and come up with new and ingenious ways of implimenting it, we'll see games like we've never seen them before. This IS Nintendo we're talking about. Even if third party developers NEVER get the hang of programing for the wiimote, Nintendo's always going to be breaking the mold with their own first party software.

I understand where you're coming from, but some of the games even from Nintendo make me scratch my head and go :wtf: (Read: Paper Mario)  The downfall of most systems is developer complacency.  That is a major problem with the PS3 as well.  Sony went out on a limb putting an extremely fast linear processor in their console.  The problem is it raised the price considerably and forced developers to abandon their old code and relearn everything they "knew."
As always, developers will eventually be forced to overcome the problems or lose money.  The same goes with console developers.  Competition is always a good thing or we get shitty products. (Read: Microsoft Windows)

I guess I'm just tired of the same shit with different names. Maybe people who aren't into games as much as me don't have that problem. But damn if it doesn't seem like I just keep playing the same shit over and over again.

I do really want a 360 though, honestly. I'm a pretty big online player and Xbox live is just top of the line when it comes to that. At first I was completely on the side of, OMGWTFISGDBS 50 dollars a year? But then I played Burnout 3 for three days straight with not much sleep and fell in love. I know nothing about PS3s online support really, but I just don't trust them whatsofucking ever, after all of the experiences I've had with the PS2s online play.

At this point for me, it's all about affordability. I don't even have 400 or 300 to spend on a 360 let alone 600 dollars for a PS3 with barely any games I'd even be willing to play.

I mean, you can say oblivion, you can say GT4, you can say FFXIII(Which will be the reason that some day in the future I will own a PS3). But lets not forget that Oblivions a PC game, and it's BEST on PC. In fact fuck, ultimately PC owns all but thats another topic entirely, as PC games are just different.

From what I've heard from the topic starter, he should go with the 360.

Actually the PS3 has extremely good online support. I agree the PS2 online was a joke but the PS3 is working beautifully. Resistance online with 40 players on a map plays with zero lag for me.
