Self-confidence
    #6758611 -

To me, it means really rolling with the tide: remaining centered when your ego wants to duck into its shell, always recognizing that people are not the things that they are saying to you, no matter how beautiful or hurtful what they say may be.

There is a certain pain that wells up in my chest when I feel someone has put me down, and a pain in my lower back that I associate with a fear of intimacy, a fear of authority, and ultimately of dying before my time. These are things which I think hatha yoga and meditation are useful for, but more useful still is recognizing that everyone, no matter how wise or deluded they appear, has something to teach you about who you are; by allowing yourself to experience situations which take you further and further out of your comfort zone, that comfort zone expands until you recognize the essentially boundless nature of mind.

What does self-confidence mean to you, you slack jawed ignoramuses?

--------------------
“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Self confidence
I see it more like just confidence.
As in mental peace. Which comes only after you've been in a state of conflict.
There will be always something/someone that will try (and sometimes succeed) to break through one's confidence. It's just the way it happens.
The good news is that confidence regenerates. And each time it does it becomes stronger.
People might be deceiving us for plenty reasons but after we're hurt we have the temptation to think that had a much evil plan then they usually did. They also might have weak moments and like all of us get confused and lose their behavioral fluency.
It might be because they're going to a next level (inferior or superior) in understanding and in this case the one who's been tricked might find it hard to keep up and then confusion arises again.
Either way, the more experience in being let down we accumulate, the more time we wait before jumping into conclusions.
All of us in our lives play both roles. Sometimes we're the ones who are letting down someone and other times we're the "tricked" ones.
If we're able to keep that in mind I think all the "crusty" moments could have a much profound meaning and maybe even a better "problem solved" finality.

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Good post - nice realizations.

It sounds as though you are traveling down the path of conscious choice.

:redpanda:
If I should die this very moment
I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you
