I am not sure if this belongs in this thread but it does have somethin to do with cultivation.. I was wondering if using a dehydrator was a good method for drying shrooms... And also what heat should be used in the dehydrator... I currently have a few in there and the temp i have them on is between 45C and 30C.. I guess the best way for me to find out how much potency they have lost is to eat them.. lol but i will have to wait a while cause i only tripped 2 days ago.

Alright, I didn't want to unviel my ultra-secret 31337 k-r4d finding, but I suppose I will. I've read countless drying techniques, and found them all too constructive in their setups. www.dehumidify.com sells silica enclosed in a rust-proof box. The smallest one is sufficient to dry 3 cubic feet, and also has an indicator as to when the silica is used up. Now the great part, you can reuse these things indefinately, and they are 100% safe to use on food products. Put one in a small tupperware dish with your fruits, put the lid on, and voila. Easy hassle-free and safe drying. I think they sell for around $8, but I got mine at price. Hope this helps someone.

You will get many different opinions on dehyrators. There is a dude that uses the dehydrator as a rack to fan dry then he turns it on to finish up. If he is in a hurry , then he drys them fully with the dehydrator on. Havent really noticed a difference in potency. Silica gel is a good idea but it is a hassel IMO. If you do use it fan dry first otherwise it will take a few days to dry them.

I throw my shrooms in a collander and direct a small clip on fan at them. Works great.

I plan on buying/using a dehydrator. Roadkill and several others here also use one with great success. Just keep the temperature at 85 degrees or less...Road said he's never had a loss of potency with the dehydrator versus other methods.
Goodman's makes several styles of dehydrators all with adjustable heat/temp gauges. Good luck!
