you cannot judge a processors' computing power solely from it's clock speed. it's great for comparing two identical processors, but that's about all. different processor cores are capable of handling different numbers of instructions per clock cycle.

benchmarks are the only good way.

think of cache as extremely quickly accessed memory on the actual processor that it can use so it makes less calls to the RAM and spends less time waiting for data to go to and from RAM. more is better. yes, it's very important.

that's a $125 processor. for $170 you can get a core 2 duo. $45. i would do that if i were you.

a micro-atx board has less expansion slots. this biostar one seems ok. biostar is often considered a lower-end brand, but i have one and it's been working great.

if you can bare to spend an extra $100, this combo would be well worth it:

if you cant spring for that, the athlon you have picked would be fine. the brisbane core athlons will consume less power and create less heat than the windsor type you picked. either would be fine though.

this would be a much better board IMO:

alright ill get the intel. if its really that much better overall with that combo for an extra 100 bucks.

can you explain this clock speed thing to me? what exactly does it reference, and what does it mean? so i guess my next question is what do you mean by benchmarks?

as far as the video cards go, i for sure want a dual video card because i want two monitors. that card i have is a dual monitor card, can i find one for cheaper that is less mb in graphics, but still dual? new egg only has that as the cheapest.

im at 944 right now with everything including only 1 monitor and no case.

im gonna get this case i think... so thats another 300.

You'll want a good PSU.
Thinking in 'watts' isnt going to help you much, since a good quality 430w PSU is better than a 800w POS noname brand.

Without getting technical, you'll generaly want a name brand PSU with 500w+. Enermax, Thermaltake, Antec, OCZ, Seasonic, etc.

Why even ask, just look at the reviews on that very page you listed. They all say it sucks!

Here's a nice little 500w that has some nice reviews. Do a google search on it, i'm sure you'll find some nice in depth reviews on it.

its like $50

click on the $25-50 link on the PSU list and browse around if need be.
edit: remember that even a good quality $50 PSU will not be able to handle some super hardcore graphics cards like the 8800 series. In those cases you need at least a $75-100 investment. If you're going with like a 7600gt (great bang for the buck card) you're ok.
