I've always been interested not in things but in the connections between them, the connection points, sockets, locking mechanisms...the indole structure is held in common with a bunch of my favorite molecules - psilocybin, LSD, serotonin, melatonin, delicious turkey tryptophan...and the reason they work in your mind is that the indole structure links up with your serotonin receptors. So to me the tattoo isn't even so much of an indole as of the space where the molecules meet your mind.

Before I told her I was getting it, I said "I'm about to tell you something that might make you upset..."

and she was totally fine with it...because apparently when I said that she thought I was either joining the Peace Corps, or I had impregnated my girlfriend. :lol: So there you have it - tattoo preferable to child-rearing and selfless third-world helping of less fortunate peoples.

:smile: Hiya Bom.  I'm really glad I went through with it too..although the whole night afterwards I kept saying, "I can't believe I got a tattoo." But I really love it.

It was a good experience. A friend of a friend tattooed me, the shop he works in closes at 8, which is when he told me to come, and everyone else had gone home.  It was just me him and my girlfriend. I expected a bunch of loud metal music since the store was called Hand of Glory and covered with demonic imagery all over, but instead he was listening to a Doo-Wop box set. It was really chill, and it didn't hurt anywhere as much as I expected.

It was so crazy feeling pain being transmitted as a message to my mind, while watching him tattoo me.

When I said that to my mom she thought I was gonna tell her I had a terminal illness or that I caught the ghey.  I was like, "No ma, WTF, I got a tattoo."  She was relieved.
