I don't think anyone wants to solve the "real" problem, it's much too difficult. You do it, DNKYD.

OK, well let's look at the ideas (that you refered to) and ill just throw out some flaws that i could think of in the 1minute i've put thought to this.
bigtee212 said:
my option would be supply them things to better their future. such as class or programs to increase their potential for making more money and getting on their own, instead of giving free money to do ass they please with, because as is obvious with most, they wherent really able to handle that freedom the first time around.

1) Transportation - the people who need these programs siimply cannot get to the classes ect. that are designed to help them better their future. They would be held all day every day as to fit the extremely varrying schedules of those needing to take them (some people work a job and would have to work the class schedule around that).

2) child care - WHOOPSY, can't have big momma bringing her 6 unfathered kids to class with her. where will the babies go? we could offer child care during class hours in the same buildling - but then we would have to provide transportation for the children aswell, nothing more fun than a bus full of single parents going to classes they don't want to attend with babies that don't wnat to be there.

3) facilities - where will these programs be held? huge buildings would need to be constructed to hold all of this, at a large cost to the program.

those are just 3 quick flaws in the solutions listed above deemed 'better' than our current system. i could list more, but im' sure the conversation is progressing while i type this and i need new material to respond to.

Also - bottom line - people are lazy, and perfectly content mooching off the system. they would not attend these classes unless forced to (how would we force them to go? enforcement would be a waste of time and legislative process, as we would have to put everyone who skipped class on trial). We can't just take away their money if they don't go - or else their 7 illigitimate kids starve.

its not a simple solution like 'we'll have classes' - and thats why we're stuck with our current shitty system.

Well no shit it's not a simple solution. When you're talking about peoples' lives, money, and general well-being there is never a simple solution. Welfare is nothing more than the redistribution of wealth to appease a certain voter demographic. There are better solutions. Will any of them be perfect, error-free, and fool-proof? Of fucking course not.

exactly, all i'm saying is that there isnt a better solution that we can execute with our current resources.

is there one - yes, do we know it/can we do it - no.

there are over 2million faimlies on welfare in the US every month. that's families, let's assume 3-4 people (generous assumption). with one head of family... we'd have to give classes to 3 million parents (we'll assume 50% of families have two parents, another generous assumption), and provide care for another 5+million people in order for the classes to work.

The trouble is doing something about it. If you reduce the amount they get, the people who use the money to buy real stuff like food and clothes for their kids suffer from it.

my sheepish beliefs of what? that there isn't any programs that we can feasibly put in place that would be more beneficial to society than what we currently have?

that's not a belief - its a fact. why is it a fact? because if there was one - it would be in place.

bottom line.

i dont give a shit if they go to classes. they can sit on any lazy ass they want all day and i wouldnt be happier, then i wouldnt have to pay for shit. i just want to help people whove made mistakes or got lost in the system better themselves IF they want to. if they dont want help attending a university, or any other program awesome, let them stay in the same spot, but there is no reason for me to help somone who will not help themselves

theres obviously flaws with the programs you suggested - otherwise they would be in place. do i know the flaws? no.

but i think the hundreds-if-not-thousands of minds (that are far greater than most of ours) that work on this problem everyday probably would've figured out a solution by now if there was one that was logical, applicable and effective.

i doubt it matter much to the powers that be, seems like they just took the laziest and easiest while still showing some effects solution. there is a multitude of things they could do, even little things to make this many times better, but its just easier to take free hand outs from people who work for it, and give it to people who want it, with really no regulations or assurance anyting will positivley change.

I think welfare is important, and I'm glad we have it here in Canada. But when I needed it,(and I mean really needed it, I lost my job, and had no options) I couldn't get it.

And while I think it's important to get money and food to moms that need it. I have seen a few girls that upset me when it comes to assistance.

A girl that just got pregnant again comes to mind. You know these people that just seem to invite drama into their lives. They're always phoning a friend about some situation. This girl needed welfare, but now she should get a job. but she's pregnant again. And the baby is from a guy she didn't get along with, and she bitched about all the time. But she lived with him, and he was allowed to get away with everything.

Anyway, that's about as much gossip as I can ever talk about. I just avoid that shit, I can't stand all this drama bullshit. Fuck there are REAL, ideas and problems out there, I wish some people would shut the fuck up.

BTW, regardless of us paying for welfare, shit man, corporate welfare is always bigger then personal. At least it is here(Canada), and in America.

Not only that, the world is running out of resources fast, I'm a little more concerned with our failing ecosystems.

maybe my point isnt being caught, or felt i dunno

theres no need to force anyone to do shit. im just saying if somone who missed the opportunity is really trying and wanting to get their life a notch up and is looking to get some education or anything to do so, thats something i would be willing to help with. i am not willing to help with programs and things that just gives money to people who are poor

So do you have to have illegitimate kids to get on welfare?

Cause I work about 50 hours a week, rent on my place is cheap as fuck for the area I'm living in (I'm paying about 1/2 of what normal people pay for rent in this area) But that's just because we live in an old shitty ass broken down house, split between 3 people. And on my income after rent and bills I barely have enough money left over to feed myself. Food is "luxury money".. I average about a meal a day. If I was paying normal rent prices around here I'd be fucked. I would like to take advantage of this money system that my tax dollars support, so I don't have to struggle for survival every week.

God forbid I ever have an emergency and have to go to hospital or something.
You'd think they would have programs for people like me, but no. I'm just fucked.
Whores can get pregnant all year long and just soak up the free shit while sitting on their lazy asses, meanwhile I'm working my ass off in a struggle for survival always trying to catch up but always just falling behind. There has to be a better way.
