SUGAR!
System of a down is a rare band. Musically they have a variety of styles they choose from with the two biggest IMO being hardcore and funk. It's like a strange mix of good social commentary lyrically with music that makes you want to jump up and down like a squirrel on meth.
Good band. I'm interested in seeing what there new album will be like. Their self-titled was excellent.

Toxicity wasn't as good as their self title IMO. And yes, Sugar is the song that most memorably sticks in my mind. I used to jam to System back before all my friends split across the country to start a life when we got out of high school 3 years ago... haven't really listened to them since.
But, I do like Metallica as much as I did back when I was 10. Maybe I'm even more infatuated now.. Anyway, I agree that some of System's songs are a little too "hardcore" oriented.. I hate hardcore music, it seems like a bunch of screaming idiots with no musical talent to me... Not system, but bands like Zao (sp?) make me want to smash the cd player, cd, and the car or house it's playing in.
My sister sat me down the one day to tell me about this awesome new song she found at a local show... all it was were a bunch of idiots slamming on their instruments and another kid saying "Fuck you slut, you take it in the butt." over and over and over... needless to say it came out of my cd player rather quickly and was replaced by Metallica's Ride the Lightning album
What is music coming to these days?!

here's how I see it.. system of a down doesn't come anywhere near the list of my favorite bands.. but at the same time.. I consider them better musicians/songwriters than 95% of the SHIT that is out today. They are unique, and even though annoying at times.. have some very catchy shit and actual talent.. so they get respect in my book.
