Messed up my registry on my comp

Right now im writing this from a friends comp :lol: I totally messed up my computer at home.I downloaded registry mechanic and I think it deleted some important shit :mad2: right after restarting the comp it just stays black I even tried safe mode and that doesnt work either.Is there any way to fix all this!?

Are you kidding me!? All your stuff is probably safe and sound on your harddrive. The quickest solution would probably be to physically remove the HD (I did it once--all you have to do is unplug some fancy wires from it) and plug it in an external drive enclosure (that turns it into a good ol' external USB HD).

But the best thing to do would probably be to get the computer as a whole fixed...but if you're planning on scraping the computer or soemthing, just extract the contents using the above method :grin:

If you reinstall windows from the CD, won't it just reinstall your stuff over the top of your existing files and NOT erase them? (e.g. just add back the reg. entreis you need?)

I thought I had done this before on a much older version of windows.

Ya know, it just might be just that easy!

The last time I tried to install Windows, it prompted me whether or not I wanted to do a fresh install or to preserve the contents!

But he said he gets nothing but a black screen, so chances are he can't even get as far as popping a disc in.

Just use your Windows disk and do a reinstall on top of the old one. It should keep all your files and stuff.

Yep, thats the solution. The only files that will be affected are windows files. You won't lose anything. I've had to do this before. It's no big deal, only take half an hour or so.

You, sir, might be in trouble then. You are gonna need a windows disk. No matter what, if Windows isn't loading then you need the disk. How come you don't have one? Is it pirated or something?
