Randy to miss the beginning of the season...

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin pretty much ruled out Randy Johnson being ready to start the season, saying the club is content to expect him back in mid-to-late April.

As to when Johnson, recovering from back surgery, actually will step on a mound this spring, Melvin played coy.

"He'll play catch," Melvin said. "I have, potentially, the first bullpen date written down, but I'm not going with it yet. We'll just see if we get there."




Well, even more glad that he's gone, I am.
