So with Randy out, is Roger coming to NY?
    #6460282 -

Thoughts from the Yanqui fans?

You'd have to be crazy not to want him...

Roger is going to do the same thing he did last year. Wait until the end of may, and probably join his buddy Andy Petite. I doubt the yankees will let him stay home on away trips he is not scheduled to pitch though. Thats not really the yankees way.

I don't think the Yanks will accede to all of the stuff Houston did, nor will they pay him as much money. Stay tuned, though. Late start to the season, sure, but we'll see where they are a couple of months into the season. This whole half-season thing might be the wave of the future for a lot of pitchers. Don't be surprised.

It makes sense, especially on a team that knows its going to be a contender.

Why make an older pitcher who might only have so many innings in his arm waste them on starts in May and June that dont mean so much. I mean, you guys know your going to be in contention for a playoff spot. It would make more sense to have Roger with a strong arm ready for the post-season.

Yeah, I think we may be moving toward the 3-4 month specialist. It seems to follow the arc of pitching history. Fewer and fewer innings morphing into fewer and fewer weeks with teams having to decide early who to reserve and who to give July and August off to. Some guys could really star under that regimen who would otherwise be perennially worn down by Sept and Oct.

I'm not a Yankees fan but I think getting rid of Randy is one of the best moves they made. Moved not only an aging but declining player skillwise, and freed up a ton of cash. Even for minor leaguers, but this is the Yankees we're talking about. Shit always works out for 'em.

And I'm thinking Roger is going to join the Yankees. There isn't enough reasons why he shouldn't. He still has the stuff, and he's still a very commanding pitcher and he will be an important acquisiton for the Yankees.

Biggest headline of the off-season.
Quote:
YANKS SIGN NOBODY TO LONG-TERM DEAL
Unclear What His Role Will Be

In breaking news, the Yanks have agreed to trade 4 billion dollars for 2 billion prospects. They expect to get at least 3 mop-up innings from one of them. Jamallrat Singh is getting serious consideration for his sutra pitch, which he throws from a deep crouch with one leg behind his head. It is not yet clear how this will be interpreted with a runner on base. Yogi Berra was unavailable for comment.
