Well here it is. the thread where i will post my attempts at gourmet mycology.
To start the thread i am going to post a pink oyster grow a did a while back.
These bags are rye spawned to lime pasteurized straw. A lime bath was prepared in ratio with the method outlined in GGMM. I had gone out of town so the straw stayed in the lime bath for over two days. I do not believe this extended time in the bath had any effect on the end results.
enough blabalabab heres the pics
The bags were fruited outdoors in south florida weather. They are currently on their 3rd flush. I was a bit cautious to put so much stock in the lime bath technique but it worked great. This is how i will be preparing all of my bulk straw from now on. This is much simpler and cheaper than heat pasteurization.
well thats all for now. I have some other projects i will share in a couple days.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing the pics and the thoughts on the lime pasteurization, very interesting! I also like the swirly oyster, that's odd!

Nice! Have you cooked with them yet? Tried any of the recipes out of GGMM? They look good..

i have cooked with them. No recipes from the book yet. I sautéed them and add them to a seafood mix. Makes a great seafood alfredo. sometimes i replace the alfredo sauce with tomato sauce. I dried most of the crop but i also froze a few clusters.

I have cultivated pink oyster and didnt care too much for them, as they are REALLY tough... flavor is fine. but blue oyster is much better on texture.

very nice grow!!! I like to saute mine and throw them in some scrambled eggs or omlettes. they seem to get softer with a little extra cook time.
"oh hell yea" the wife says when i get a nice crop of them!! she loves to cook with them, but i usually steel the kitchen and experiment with them. lol My favorite recipe for the pink oysters is with seared Ahi Tuna and Lemon. fuck yea!

Wonderful oyster grow! Where did you get the original culture or spores from?

Thank you for the compliments.
Fabio the grow house is almost finished. i haven't had the money to install the misting system or shelves so i haven't updated yet. Hopefully i will have some money in the next few weeks. As soon as i complete it i will update the thread.
I took some spore prints but they were badly contaminated because of insects. Once the grow house is complete i'll take new clean prints to donate.

Hello waixingren!
Thank you for the future donations, we need the support of every grower!
You should take in consideration the idea of the misting barrel of Anno, of course not using a big barrel but just a quite big plastic box. Is a really cheap and excellent misting system.
About the shelves you could choose the wood shelves of micololo2 (you find them in the thread of the 100$ fruiting house). Also this is an excellent cheap and good system. If you worry about the raw material of the wood you can always paint it with water and CaO a couples of times per year. Of course no one mold or bactery will attack the wood. A good method to paint it, saving A LOT OF TIME, is spraying this "ink"(water+CaO) with those strange manual machines used to kill infestations from plants and trees of the gardens.
CaO isn't Ca(OH)2..very similar but different! I don't know if it works also with Ca(OH)2 but i'm supposing yes if you pasteurized the straw.
Goodnight and oompa loompa, Fabio

Thanks
