Windows XP....... cut the fat, any neat tricks?
    #6539388 -

Well, my company is buying Windows XP.

Now I will be the one installing it and tweaking it and such.

My question, what are some nifty ways to cut the fat with this install?

What are some neat customization options?

I'd like to push it, what is XP fully capable of?

In addition to work, this will also be a media machine(gotta be entertained  ), so I'm thinking VLC will be the main player, in addition to winamp. Anything else out there?

If you want to 'cut the fat', my best advice would be use nLite to create a customized installation CD. You can integrate any extra hotfixes, drivers and software you'll need, and strip out any components you won't. You can also configure it for an unattended installation and change a lot of default settings. It makes it a lot easier to get up to speed with a new install.

I've always liked Zoom Player.
Not sure why.

I think because its got all the 'advanced' features/settings, but still simple enough if you want it that way.
