Installing Windows XP to RAID with no floppy drive.
    #3799599 - 02/18/05 07:05 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I just recently set up SATA raid on my computer and I want to install windows xp to it, but I do not have a floppy drive and I can not attach one as I seem to have burned out the floppy port on my motherboard. So the problem is that I can't load the raid driver during install. Does anyone know of a way around this?

Is it possible to put the drivers on a bootable cd and use that?

You can enable the raid from some BIOS, so you dont need raid drivers, but you do need to have winxp know how to use the sata channels

WinXP has no SATA Drivers by default.

the winxp installer, as you know, has a place to read a driver from a specially formatted floppy disk. generally thats the only way to do it, but it is possible to incorporate custom drivers into an XP CD that you make.

It's called slipstreaming, and is used to ahve an XP installt aht has programs preloaded, and updates preinstalled. i Google'd "slipstream XP sata" here: http://www.google.com/search?q=slipstrea...:en-US:official

the first hit is cb9fl's link!
