I AM SUFFERING FROM CHRONIC ARTIST BLOCK, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

I'm about to smash my fucking face against the wall.

A- I haven't been able to come up with one concept within my skill range.

B-All my other creative outlets are doing fine, but art is being a bitch.

C-Due to recent events, I am without the aid of chemically based mind alteration, and will be for quite some time.

D-Every time I sit down to do something I just can't even get an idea of what to do.

E- I'm also having a horrible horrible self-esteem drop with my artistic abilities and this is interupting my regular life


Can anyone help me? I don't know how much longer I can take this before I just start freaking out and going absolutely fucking insane. This has been going on for WEEKS.

I'm not an artist in any of the usual meanings, I don't sculpt, paint, or draw.

But I do write fiction, that's my big creative outlet.

I've had writers' block before, and I've found two ways that usually get me over it.

First - If it's minor, I just try thinking about what I'm going to create during all of the mundane moments of my day. When I'm in the shower, when I'm walking to and from class, when I'm sitting on the toilet, whenever I can. Sometimes it's easier when you don't have the blank page staring you in the face, and once you get an idea, you can build on it once you start working.

Second - If that doesn't work and it's been a while, I usually just try writing ANYTHING. Literally anything, lists of funny words, knock-knock jokes, summaries of news stories, whatever. Usually after writing non-creatively for a little while I find enough inspiration to actually begin creating.

Dont sit down to make art.
Dont sit down and expect a finished piece or concept.
Just sit down to create.
Create a 100 things that you don't expect to follow through and finish as a piece.

By the time youve done that for a few weeks, youll be in the mode.
You might have had some ideas in your meanderings that youll want to elaborate on.
If neither, youll at least have developed your skill more.

So basically what im saying is dont TRY to make art.
Just create. And it should come naturally... eventually.

This may or may not be helpful, but this is what I do when I want to create, but I dont feel like going about normal conventions.

I take coffee filters, make colorful scribbles in marker on them then spray them with a water bottle, this gives them a real tye dyish look.

After they dry I fold them up and make cuts in them...

viola! tye dye coffee filter snowflakes!

But seriously they come out really cool looking, and they help get the creativity going...
