Palindrome concept

I have been trying to brainstorm content for a concept I have for my next electronic song.

It will be a complete palindrome. That is, it will be the same from start to end as played backwards from end to start.

I'm trying to dream up a beat, melodies, and samples that will fit this criteria... but I'm wondering if anyone has any creative input for this project. I know ultimately this will be my deal, but this is such a huge thing to attempt, any suggestions i would greatly appreciate!

The samples should then have a semytrikal wavelength so that they can sound the same backwards.

interesting idea!
wouldn't it probably be easiest to make an ambient song?
i would think having symmetrical waveforms for the different hits in a beat would be a pain in the ass to do... maybe you had some ideas though?

yeah, it would be easiest to make an ambient song, but my taste requires a beat, melody, etc.
I would write a symmetrical beat, and for part of the song overlay the reverse. so it'd be like, reverse-kick ending on kick, etc... if that makes sense.

This is Boards of Canada inspired, but you never know what kind of flavor will come out

Cool Idea :)

and all you would need to build is the first half of the song,
then just copy-paste-reverse the second half at the end of the wav file

LOL! I see what you're saying. I just think a different approach would make it sound more creative. Your thought is a simple answer, a means to an end, but it would kinda degrade the intent of making a track of this type (imo).

Maybe you could just do that with each sample instead, rather than just cot, copy, and reverse the whole thing.

You're very welcome. tis a good feeling, being an inspiration.

Anyways, one idea that i had, specifically for the drums in the macro-structure sense, was to split the track in 3 parts, the first (in the start to end way) being the drums reversed.  then the second third would be drums forward and backward overlayed, then transition to the third section where the drums are rightways.  breaks, melodies, sample instances would all be symmetrical, the tough part is writing a cool symmetrical drum lick, melody and esp. samples.  The purpose would be to have the second half not right out obviously a copy of the first half.  If i just wrote half a song, copied it, and reversed it and added it on, this would be way too obvious and sort of boring.  With samples that are right-ways in the second half would help fix this.  I will be doing a lot of soundwave editing for this, i predict.

With the way I was thinking of how I would do it, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference either way... and doing it with the flip would be like expressing the point that the track is identical both ways. It wasn't an idea based on laziness either, it was just a point to exploit the funtion of the track.
