electronic music lovers
    #6518948 -

this is a rant:

those who love infected mushroom & the sort.
i cant wait till they (or any good producer, i read BT was/is experimenting in it)

starts making music in complete & total surround sound.

can you imagine tripping in a room where sound is
coming at you from every which direction as if it were
physically whizzing by your head?

like 2 edc's back ago i was in the jungle room and the room had speakers on each of the four conners. the crazy shit was i happend to be passing and hanging out it the middle. (shrooming) and i was hearing the music. which at one point the bass did a ripple like from all four sides in and out so clean i was supprised it sounded that way and thought of a whole new bass style/method.

I make electronic music in surround sound. :yesnod: I love using effects that make things bounce from ear to ear, and move forward and back. (most of my music is guitar driven music, but even with that stuff I do use crazy effects some times)

EDIT: I am not a "pro" though

w/ the advent of the mixed media turntable, this is happening right now...

there are a few acts that i've seen that perform w/ the dual CDJ/CD-VJ set-up.. it's pretty freaking awesome...

as for surround sound.. as stated, DE:9 was done in surround sound.. and I'm pretty sure there have been a few others, just not any that I'd want to listen to.

after infected mushroom's last album, I'm not really looking forward to anything they do from now on, unfortunately. :frown:

Have you given DE9: Transitions a chance? that album is a pure masterpiece, it has a perm home on my iPod and I've debated getting a 5.1 setup just so I can listen to it in its full glory

oh... i love hawtin..

I was referring to the other albums.

I think oakenfold put out a 5:1 album this past year.. and i'm pretty sure the others i've seen are shitty prog-trance, too.

The surround sound formats did not catch on because the public didn't care. I've got a bunch of DVD-Audios and Super Audio CDs which were high res and surround sound but they don't even make them anymore since nobody bought them (and they were never marketed).

One of the best surround mixes I have ever heard is Bjork's Vespertine. Wow. Beck's Sea Change is pretty sweet too.

The only surround techno I know of so far is Crytal Method.

Get one.  You can get a good setup for "cheap".  I've been consistently upgrading mine for years no.  Just got some kick ass rear and center speakers for an awesome price off of CraigsList.

A really great surround album that I have on audioDVD format is the album "Audio" by Blue Man Group. They built thier own studio designed specifically for them to record thier crazy (and sometimes very large) instruments in 5.1 surround. This album is not just mixed in 5.1, it was specifically recorded as such.

The Disco Biscuists nye show this year was in quadraphonic sound. Basically speakers in all 4 corners of the venue, rather than just in front. Shpongle played the set break.
