i am looking to grow shrooms for the first time and ahve everyting i need except the brown rice flour which i can'y find anywhere. i don't have a pressure cooker either. is there any other form of subtrate a bit easier to find i could use that doesn't require sterilization in a pressure cooker?

Many of the vendors sell differentpre-sterilyzed substrates including BRF. Just order some jars.

Rye flour is also good
i heard of people using wheat flour
as for a pressure cooker if your doing BRF/VERm or any flour and verm I have heard you can boil your jars for an hour or so...

Heres what you do:
Bag of brown rice at grocery store electric coffee grinder
use the latter on the former and you get brown rice flour. A little more work, but it also is cheaper and works great.

just use reg brown rice. cook it and slap it in your jar. it works wonderfully. i reccomend this tek(9er tek) over the brf as far as speed. i was amazed at the growth rate i got out of reg cooked brown rice. use this way. fast easy, and plus you can eat the cake after it poops out!!!
