To all Penis Envy cultivators!

Hello, my friend inoculated 12 jars of rye with the penis envy strain on december 28th (my bday!). It is now a month later, and he says the jars are fully colonized, but has a question.

Does penis envy colonize thinner than other strains?

The reason he asks is because he also has 20+ jars of colonizing thai lipa yai (he thinks) and the mycelium is a bit thicker. Both jars are vibrant white, but the penis envy ones aren't as thick except around the edges of the rye/mycelium.

The jars have been left to colonize for a full month, and he hasn't seen any odd colors show up, just white. Spawn time?

Maybe the PE jars were too dry?

My PE ripped thru grain with thick rhizos, where did you get your spore stock?

He got his spores from a vendor on this site. He'd rather not mention names because it could be his own fault. Around the edges of colonization it's thicker than the colonized spots, so maybe the grain was dry?

So does everyone agree to case?

i did jars with Penis Envy and yea the growth looked weak but i cased and now a week later they are looking nice!!

I don't have any experience in what you are talking about.

However, with any cubensis multi-spore inoculation there are many possibilities for different genetics. Any one of these combinations could produce mycelium that has thinner strands OR thicker.

Sounds like this strain could use some "work" OR it is as you might say "strain dependent". Which brings about my next question...

Anyone willing to donate a print of PE for AFOAF to do some G2G studies?
