Mountain lion attack

I just heard on the news that a mountain lion attacked a couple that was out hiking in the woods. Both people survived.

The newscaster went on to say that they (animal control or whoever deals with this kind of shit) killed 2 mountain lions because of the attack. They said one mountain lion had blood on its claws so they were going to do DNA testing to see if it was the lion that did the attacking. So I have a few questions.

1. Why the fuck did they feel the need to hunt down mountain lions and kill them? When you go hiking there is always a chance you will cross paths with a wild animal, it could possibly fucking attack, for whatever reason. You are walking through its fucking home.

2. Why the fuck do they have to do DNA testing to determine which mountain lion, if it was either of the two they killed, did the attack. Who gives a fuck. It is a damn mountain lion and it was probably fucking hungry. I just don't get it. Why does the media make such a big fucking deal about wild animal attacks? and feel the need to get revenge on an animal that was most likely acting out of instinct?
