Been watching a new Netflix anime called Cannon Busters:

It's an adaption of a US graphic novel that came out years ago then went on indefinite hiatus.
Fairly impressed overall, it feels like Netflix basically combined a ton of classic anime such as Trigun/Samurai Champloo and a ton of others.

tekkonkinkreet is amazing, such beautiful and unique art. The story is fantastic as well, so dark yet inspiring. Makes me cry every time during at least a few parts.
Children Who Chase Lost Voices has amazing art as well, very interesting story though it feels way more cliche in the love story aspect. The adventure part is all tons of fun though, like an anime Journey To The Center Of The Earth.
Yeah I love the idea of anime exploring agartha, I think thats why I liked it so much. And the story was sad even though a little over the top.
Check out mind game. Its a fucking trip.

Definitely check out Made In Abyss if you haven't already. It's a bit different but same concept of a journey deep down into the earth. It's pretty lighthearted for the most part but does get dark at times.
Watched part of Mindgame once, and have been wanting to finish it. But I don't watch subs too much these days. Hopefully it gets dubbed eventually.

It's a good one, still waiting for S2 to come out. Been meaning to catch up to the manga in the mean time.

Almost done with Cannon Busters, enjoyed it a lot so far. Started out seeming like it could go either way but it improved pretty quickly over the first few episodes.

Anyone check out the new Netflix animated show Seis Manos? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seis_Manos
About halfway through and have been really digging it so far. Nice blend of martial arts with the supernatural and a focus on drugs and cartels as the story is set in Mexico.
Really dark and gritty, lots of violence/action. Definitely worth checking out.

One of the main characters just ate mushrooms, that some old mystical Mexican woman gave her
Been really impressed so far, lots of deep moments. Pretty dark/gruesome at times but that's pretty much necessary for a story about cartels and drug lords. And the martial arts and supernatural elements make it more interesting.
The art style is definitely more western for the most part, kind of reminds me of The Last Airbender though it's been years since I watched it. But it still has some anime influences.
Interested to see how it ends after 8 episodes, would be cool to get a second season.

According to wiki it was released on Netflix yesterday
Also the production company is from Texas, kind of assumed/hoped they might be South American but Texas makes sense I guess.

Bumped for this: https://lupin.fandom.com/wiki/Prison_of_the_Past
Quote:
Prison of the Past is the twenty-seventh Lupin III television special. It originally aired on November 29, 2019. Contents[show] Synopsis
To rescue a famous criminal from imprisonment, Lupin and his team infiltrate the Kingdom of Dorrente. While the skillful thieves from around the world are gathering, Lupin tries to reveal the secret hidden in the kingdom. An exhilarating jailbreak action pursuing with comical fun like Part II!
Didn't even hear about it until today when I saw a subbed version posted here: https://www.wcostream.com/lupin-iii-prison-of-the-past-episode-1-english-subbed
Too busy to watch a subbed movie right now but very excited to get extra baked and watch it soon
They have been doing a great job with all the recent lupin installments, so I've been waiting for a new movie or TV special

Anyone read/watch Guin Saga? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guin_Saga#Anime
Just realized they made an anime adaption: https://www.wcostream.com/anime/guin-saga
Guin Saga - English Trailer
Always meant to read Guin Saga, it was perhaps the biggest influence on Berserk which is another epic manga. Almost seems like a Japanese Conan or something but I've yet to check it out, very excited to watch the anime though
Holy shit, there are 130 volumes of the Guin Saga manga
Quote:
A record 100 volumes were originally planned,[3] but the final total stands at 130 volumes and 22 side-story novels, with the last four volumes and the twenty-second side novel published posthumously.[4] She was working on the 130th volume of Guin Saga up until May 23, 2009, after which point she became too ill to write.[5] After the 100th book in the series was published in 2005, an event to celebrate this was held in Tokyo, with 600 attending.[6] Guin Saga is the longest single-writer's work in the world,[7] with total sales of 30 million copies.[8]
That is seriously impressive.

Been enjoying watching part 5 dubbed and animated, watched the sub when it was coming out but ended up reading the manga to finish it before moving on to parts 6 and 7. Meant to catch up on part 8 but never read much, it's probably still coming out.
Can't wait to see part 6 get animated, part 7 is probably the best as well but they each one has something unique/interesting about it.
The newish Adult Swim show Ballmastrz 9009 did a hilarious Jojo scene recently:
Ballmastrz 9009 - JoJo Torture Dance
Laughed so hard the first time I saw that episode, S2 of Ballmastrz has been a masterpiece of anime references.
