Thank you! I think she's beautiful too.  I think her being deaf just makes her all the more special   It will be a little bit of extra work, but it will pay off.  I'm so glad we got her.  Before we went into the pet store that day, my fiancee looked at me and told me that I was not allowed to buy a ferret there, and I agreed that 2 ferrets was enough for now, and we left it at that.  And then I saw her.  I know how ridiculous it sounds, but she was just so special.  There were like 10-12 ferrets in the little enclosure they had there for them, and I couldn't look at any of them but her.  I just knew I had to get her out of there.  And I'm so glad we did!  If someone had bought her who was not experienced with ferrets, they would have probably not realized that she was deaf, been unable to train her, and given her up to a shelter or something because she was biting out of fear and they didn't know why.  Deaf ferrets don't get adopted from shelters because people don't want to deal with their disability, so they just sit there, and either get put to sleep, or live the rest of their days at a shelter, without a family to love them and play with them.  I'm so glad she's ours :heart: Her and Hero are like little igloo buddies, all curled up in there sleeping together.  Her and Villain play a lot together out of the crate, but I think she's more comfortable with Hero while sleeping because Hero is very low key and isn't rough at all, so Rogue can sleep without worrying about anyone sneaking up on her in the igloo!!   We read today that with deaf ferrets, you have to use vibration to train them in some ways, like knock or stomp your foot to get their attention, and when you talk, hold them up to your neck/chest and speak in a soothing voice and then turn them towards you and do hand signals so they know what you want from them.  When we wake her, we have to rub the hammoch she's sleeping in or jostle it a bit so that we don't startle her too much by just grabbing her.

She's my little sweetie

nice pictures! once i get outta school i'm definitely gonna have to get a ferret. they're illegal to own in rhode island for some reason. have to go out of state to get one.

i hear chinchillas bathe in volcanic ash. that sounds quite ridiculous to me, one of my friends used to have one.

Rogue sure is a cute looking little ferret.

That cage you have for them is incredible. When I was growing up my mom and I made a huge cage by putting two seperate cages together (We got 2 ferrets + cage and then later bought another ferret + cage and finally another ferret.) But yours is still bigger and fancier, so those little fuzzies must have fun.

The crate is so convenient.  As I think it shows in the pictures, The doors all swing outwards all the way, to give you full access to the entire interior of the crate unobstructed, instead of trying to have to reach through a small opening to feed them or clean a litterbox.  Also, the last cage we had had wire floors, and ferrets really aren't supposed to live on wire floors, it fucks their feet up really bad after a while.  So the bottom of this crate is a solid material that's easily washable and comes right out which is great.  ALSO, the ramp that goes from the 2nd level to the 1st level, there's a little lock on the 1st level that you can use to lock it up, so they can't climb down from the 2nd level...that way if you're cleaning their litterbox on floor 1 and don't want them on it, or changing a hammock on floor 2 and don't want them up there, you can restrict their access to 1 floor very easily.  AND it's on wheels, and has a little stand down the bottom for their supplies.  I really do love this crate, even though it was a bit expensive

Here are a few more pictures...this first one is Lucy in our living room upstairs laying on the wolf rug that we think she believes is a friend of hers.

And this is Hero, looking all pudgy and cute.  Ferrets put on weight in the winter and grow in a little winter coat that makes them all poofy.  It's adorable!!

And, these 2 are for the person who asked earlier if ferrets were cuddly - they're of Hero sleeping with my fiancee

My ferrets used to go to sleep on my chest all the time, but I'd almost always wake up with them pouncing on my feet.  I move my legs a lot when I sleep and ferrets just can't resist something moving under the blanket

It may not be a great idea to get one then. If an emergency arose, you wouldn't be able to get your ferret proper medical care. You have to get them rabies and distemper vaccines annually, and you'd have to go out of state to do that. Plus, you can't just go to any vet with ferrets, it has to be a vet with ferret experience, or they will serious fuck up your animal. Actually, the reason we got our 1st one, Hero, is because the girl who owned her was moving to Washington DC for medical school and they are illegal there, so she let us adopt her.

 My fiancee had 2 ferrets when he lived with Ythan out in Colorado and he told me a story of waking up one morning to one of them latched onto his eyelid   That must have been quite a wakeup!  We don't let them run around while we sleep, mostly because we always supervise any interaction between them and our dog...mostly because we're afraid the dog will get hurt

I had my albino ferret latch onto my eyelid once. I was like... 12 or so and stood up and she was HANGING off my eyelid.

That was my mean old lady ferret though, the only one that bit when she didn't like what you were doing.

I had fun using this to my advantage though. I was showing my friend my ferrets once and he was standing in front of my refridgerator for some reason, so I grab the albino and hold her up to his face, and she bites his forhead, which causes him to slam his head backwards into my refridgerator. Funniest thing I'd ever seen.

Wow....remind me not to piss you off eh?  The only one of ours that nips at us at all is Rogue, and it's just because she's a baby, and since she's deaf she startles easily and gets scared.  She's catching on quickly and hasn't been doing it nearly as often.  For some reason though, I think she is under the impression that my hair, which is usually tied up in a bun, is her arch nemesis.  Every time she gets the chance she climbs up the back of my shirts and attacks it, burrowing into it and stuff, it's wicked funny!

Oh, here's a pic of me and my fiancee, for good measure! I'm on a bit of a picture binge because we're testing out a new photo printer we just got

It was more comical than painful, even to my buddy

I wish I had a camera, I'd take pictures of my pup playing with my roommate's little anklebiting cunt-dog.
