Lost my job...

random drug test... refused to take it (I knew I would fail) and lost my job. it was pretty good too easy data entry stuff 11 bucks an hour, 8-5 monday through friday. this happened in December, I'm still looking for something else...

anyone else had this happen to them? I really hate drug tests, everyone seems to do them. I'm having to mooch off my girlfriend I hate it. Jobs are very difficult to find here. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find something else anytime soon... I might have to settle for a shitty grocery store job...

u may wanna move to someplace with more jobs
tucson isnt too bad rent is still reasonable although lots of people r moving there so it,s increasing

Yea, I failed a pop drug test at orientation for being a pizza driver for dominos.:rolleyes:  So I went to work for another pizza place where I would smoke out with the manager.

Having trouble finding jobs in Texas?  :confused:  Thats odd because people from all over the country come to the south west because of the low cost of living and low unemployment rate.

It's not a matter of that...he should be able to do what he wants in his own spare time if he can still hold a job. It's not his actions that got him fired, it's the company that invaded his privacy.

why did you refuse your drug test?... you couldnt have gotten piss from someone else? someone you work with?.. im sure if you offered to pay for some piss, someone would have hooked you up.

Shitty dude.....I respect your decision 100%. I've never taken a drug test, and would never subject myself to one. They are wrong, no ands, ifs or buts about it.  A straight up invasion of privacy has no place in any "free country". The more people that stand up to this, the better the chances they will be abolished.  Good work brother, keep up the good fight! :thumbup:

Never refuse a drug test at work unless you know you wont be fired for it. A lot of companies these days tell employees or potential employees that they will be receiving drug tests, just the mention of this weeds out the drug users (as it did with you Aaladorn).

Often this is just for the shock value and whatever they make you pee in is just thrown away. If its not for court, a government job, or a high profile job and they ask for a hair analysis then you can be sure its bull, that shit costs over 600 bills.

At $11 an hour I bet they only test about 1 out of 10 piss samples, and only the people they suspect are using drugs. Its a work liability thing, but that doesn't mean they want to throw away 6000 a year to test everyone. 500 or so a year for the "random" (Yeah right) selection is acceptable though.

Plus they need to make it look like they are testing everyone, otherwise I'm sure there are some legal issues involved that could get them in trouble. e.g. work discrimination

boss: "you need to take a drug test Jamal Black even though Henry Whitey over there doesn't"

Jamal Black: "I'm going to sue for discrimination"


So next time just take the drug test, or cheat, use someone Else's piss. For work they cant watch you piss.

actually you know what really happened? they told me I need to go to the location across the street now and do the drug test. well I went to the headshop about a mile away and bought synthetic urine, it wasn't warm enough when I did the drug test so they couldn't accept it, so they wanted me to retake the drug test and I told them I couldn't go again so they considered that a refusal. I was angry.

That's some real bullshit right there. The only time I have ever had "randoms" appear at work was when they wanted to get rid of someone for personality or whatever other reasons and couldn't find a legit reason to fire them, so they go for the piss test. Like it was said earlier, it's expensive to do a piss test (125+ a pop).

While working at PayChex I learned why so many employers are mentioning pee tests (even if they don't give one to you) is it's sold with the health care/workers comp package. The insurance companies would offer "cheaper" rates to an employer if they agreed to a pee test package. They didn't have to use it, but they still had to agree to having it there to keep costs down. So you have to realize (for the most part) most employers DO NOT want to invade your privacy, it's the health/comp insurance companies that are doing it.

That sucks I was doing data entry stuff before too and it's a lot better than working at a supermarket like you were saying even though I had to do some customer service too. I didn't get fired for a drug test though I've never been given one before. You might be able to find a job where your boss smokes too my friend always seems to find places to work where he can smoke weed while he works. I don't know how he manages that he's doing roofing right now.

nope... I had to take a test to ge the job, crushed my finger in a punch press a
couple weeks into the job and the boss said "dont worry about passing the drug
test, we'll make sure you pass", I would have passed it anyway because I'm cool
like that

Sorry about your job. Still, if you know they test and you smoke anyhow you know you will get busted so no sense whining about it.

Luckily hardly any companies drug test back in Europe so we can toke on lunch breaks if we want.

From the posts I've read about drug testing, it seems like they do it a lot in the US, and seldom in Canada. I've never known anyone up here that had to take a drug test.

Any Canadians out there that have? For what job?

I lost my internship because it was under comcast and comcast has a drug free policy.

I feel bad for the network I was going to work for because they were understaffed...and Im a damn good worker when it comes down to it.

I guess they were afraid Id be stealing staplers to support a habit. Oh well, I considered the let go a good thing...I hate comcast with a passion

me either...for my last job they sent me to get a piss test. I went straight to the headshop and bought some fake piss got to the parking lot(of the piss test place) and waited for my fake piss to get warm. Fucking smoked a could of bowls and took the test high than hell. No reason to fail a piss test anymore.

Never known anyone in Canada sent off for testing. My friend moved to the US and he's had to quit multiple times for multiple drug tests, luckily he knew when they were coming. Right now he's got a job in his 4 years of schooling and has no idea when a test might pop up. The guy hasn't been able to smoke in over a year, I feel sorry for him.

Well he's basically been a daily smoker with me since we were like 14. I know he wants to smoke, but instead fills himself up on shitty cheap american brew. Apart from a tossed salad, those hookers are nothin' but trouble.
