Using Diatomaceous Earth to control Pests

Anyone use this to help their plants? Whats the correct method, simply sprinkle a healthy little bit on the surface of the dirt around the plants?

I have been plagued by those little fruitfly looking gnats for awhile now, they just dont seem to go away. Will this help? What causes these bugs in the first place?

yup diatomaceous earth will do it. and yes I lay out a quarter inch or so on top of soil and no more gnats.

a light layer of greensand will get rid on your fungus gnat problem :thumbup:

1/4"? Sounds like a lot, but I'll give it a try!

yeah the 1/4" will all go down into the soil within first few waterings.
