as i have promised in another post, here it is. pesticides no more, for real.
if plagues keep munching on your plants and you're tired of taking care of them, this is for you... just plant some of these species around your garden (or even with your plants indoors) and soon the plagues will wear off and never come back. you also should stop using any non organic fertilizers and pesticides for it to work.
here follows the species list and their use. i am sorry i couldn't translate some of the popular names, anyways:
rosemary: good salvia companion, repels flies and attracts bees;
garlic: excelent geneal insect repellant;
rue (Ruta graveolens): repels flies;
borago (Borago officinalis): good for the soil;
nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus): repels beetles, aphids and whiteflies;
ger?nio (Pelargonium peltatum): repels diverse plagues;
sunflower: they're good because they attract every surrounding bugs to their flowers, saving the surrounding plants;
Calendula officinalis: inhibits soil diseases;
Ricinus comunis: repels mosquitos and gnats;
Mentha piperita / Portulaca grandiflora: repels general plagues and controls the humidity;
Achillea millefolium: said to protect every surrounding plant in the garden, enhancing their growth and resistance;
sage (Salvia officinalis)/ Absynthe (Artemisia absinthium): when planted together they enhance their surrounding plants growth and inhibit plagues;
tagetes: repels all insects with its odor and inhibits diseases in the soil;
Datura/Brugmansia spp: protects surrounding plants against bugs and beetles;
valeriana: protects the surrounding plants and attracts worms;
P.S.: SE you should try putting some nastrutium around your salvias d... mine love their company.

thanks everybody for the kind words!
entheomation: yeah, tobacco is a great organic pesticide for certain plagues. confrey also makes great organic humus which keeps bugs away.
dazed: for spider mites you could try some of the general protective plants and see what works better. i've had them in an argyreia nervosa but they went away after i left the soil cover with low weeds...
actually this 'tek' is all about allowing the weeds to fill in the empty soil areas... they won't be the most ornamental gardens for the popular eye nor they are to be that... actually this comes from the old gardeners, which planted their vegetables among with their spices, flowers and everything else.
i would also like to make an addendum here:
mint (mentha piperita) also repels mealy bugs from cacti. i think melissa officinalis help too.

and please fellows, don't get just a single companion plant or species, get a _nastrutium_, some rosemary, salvia officinalis, artemisia, garlic (you can plant the ones from the kitchen!)... because the more species you have the more protected you are...

pyrethrin is chrysanthemum juice and is generally considered organic.
