i know how i feel about it but i'm not sure how others would..
what i quit over happens all the time with almost every employee at my job [pizza hut btw].. not a real professional habit but it happens. i get in trouble for it when i get "caught," in the act.
i was on break and the guy who got caught with me wasn't. so technically, i wasn't even getting paid nor was i any of their business at that time. i could just as well have clocked out, or went back in and said i wasn't coming back and it would have been fine. they were wanting me to leave(overstaffed) but i wanted to get some overtime this week.
it's not like i was a real liability to them at that time is what i'm getting at. this guy, a closing server [the only one] was. he was much more guilty than i, and i'm pretty sure that's accurate as biased as it may seem.
anyway when it gets down to it they tell me i have to leave and i'll be written up for it. i'm like.. well, fine. i can do that no problem. one of my problems in my opinion is that i give people too much trust. i give them the fact that they would act i as I would in their shoes and be fair in their judgments. i would NOT let my morals, or prejudices cloud my judgment. i assumed they would act like this.
the guy who i was hanging out with came outside and said that they said nothing to him. i asked him if they said he was getting in trouble and he said no, they didn't say anything to him or notice him. i then went into beast mode, uncontrollable anger.
again, sorry for ramble, but i'm pretty pissed. to understand fully you need to know a few things.. the managers who did this to me do not like me. i do not like them and it is a mutual dislike, but we tolerate and even put on happy faces and a somewhat charade out of respect to keep the peace at work. we definitely don't enjoy our presence, that's for sure.
they've tried to get me fired for things like showing up late.... one time. it was a monday, they WERE overstaffed, and it was exam week. i never normally work mondays, i didn't have time, so i didn't check my schedule. i didn't show up to work because i took for granted [and i admit fault] that i had monday off.. so i stayed at home. i had to work, and they called me and asked where i was. i was in my uniform, out the door, and walking in the door 22 minutes after he called me. i live 20 miles away btw, so about a 15 minute drive.
tooting my own horn i'm a good worker, no need for that shit. when randy [the RGM/main store manger] heard about this the write up was immediately trashed and nullified before it ever got to the franchise owner. all the other managers love me, and so does everyone that works there. there are exceptions where a few people [highschool girls, assholes] think my sense of humor is immature... it is, but oh well =)
we still liked each other. enough background info post is almost over now. the two managers who dislike me are black, and i swear to god i've never thought anything of it before now.
the guy who got caught with me was black. he got caught red handed, as well, and they deny him doing anything wrong. i'm a vet by now in the store and he just got hired.. they know me and they don't know him. why are they taking his side?
anyway i asked them all of this and they replied "please leave the store now, he did nothing wrong blah blah blah."
i was like alright, fuck you.. do you want the uniform back? my fucking gift to you.
i do live in the south, hick town florida [high springs for you alachua county natives] so racism is a really common thing here and whatever. i didn't even bring up the whole race issue until someone else did and it seems i have been a victim of racism. lol what a gay thing to say
