Beer Keg Dispute. Aluminum or Steel???

OK another dispute. Sorry to post so much but i think the world out there is a credible finalization to all my disputes.

Beer Kegs. What are they made of. I got a magnet to stick to the one at my house now. Does that mean its not Aluminum. All my friends say aluminum, except for the one i think is actually credible because he brews his own beer. He says it is stainless steel. Is anyone positive???????

I worked at a brewery. yep they are stainless steel

What brewery? Not that i don't believe you, but my stupid ignorant friend does.

The reason they use stainless steel is because it preserves the flavor and is better for consumption purposes. Aluminum is used for cans with a lining of plastic on the inside. I hear aluminum causes Alzheimer's disease when consumed too much. thats why you don't smoke off aluminum, or cook with aluminum (from what i hear). The reason they use it for cans it the metal to liquid ratio. Its more practical for shipping purposes. ( But this is my own hypothesis )

It says that there is also a "lightweight aluminium variety"

usually 304 or 316 stainless

those aluminum ones are usually lined, some insulated double wall with
stainless, some with plastic, I've split one of the stainless/aluminum
ones in order to get the stainless for a grill

304 stainless is magnetic if it's been cold formed, it's a good bet that it's 304 series stainless
