Installing windows 98 SE on a separate partition?
    #6382180 -

My primary hard drive has a separate partition on it set aside for a 98 SE install, which is FAT-32 format.

The partition is sitting there waiting to be used, but I can't really remember how to set up windows 98... it's been many years.

What do I need to know? Is the install disk bootable? (since I obviously can't install it from within XP). Will I have trouble finding drivers for my hardware that work in 98? Will I need to install drivers for PnP things that I take for granted? (mouse, keyboard, CD ROM)

This is a step way back in time... and I have trouble remembering last week, so I'm venturing into the technological abyss and could use some advice

I just finished exactly what you are talking about with only moderate success. I managed to get it installed but because XP was installed first I was not able to dual boot. I'm pretty sure you have to have 98 installed first.

I also ran into driver problems with my NIC & my video card, neither of witch I have been able to find online.

I would like to hear some input on this as well from some of the more experienced on here.

yeah install 98 first but...
depending on your hardware windows 98 may not even run. too many sectors on hard drive will fuck it up right off the start.
