It took me a long time to get into the Grateful Dead. Then, after a while, it just started to click for me. The song that did it for me was "Ripple." Now, I fucking love the Dead.

for some resson peopel never seem to grasp the idea that if the dead are not about one thing. its albums.
sure there are some good one. anthem of the sun holds a deep place in my heart as the sound track for one of my most crayz adventures ever.

The dead are about live music. about creation. the condensing and breaking apart of energy as it splaters across infinity.

europe 72 ia also good live album. altho its not really live its edited in studio with live preformases

as much as i love live dead, i dont think it's the best album to start with. it's too heavily psychedelized for most people i would think (although we are on the shroomery, so maybe it would be a good starting point for some people). i think people would be better off starting with europe '72. the songs are a little more traditional. most 60s dead (such as live dead) is very psychedelically orientated, while in the 70s and beyond, they expanded to many more styles of music, while still keeping the psychedelic influence.

I think for alot of people, you need to listen to the Grateful Dead in the right setting at first. Like, around a bonfire, at a cookout, or driving, something like that.

If you never listen to the Dead, then try listening late a night, alone, on your comp, it probably won't be enjoyable. At least from what I've seen/heard.

what i siserly like about the dead is the keep me interested. i can listen to morning dew all day long and and just jam out noticing the little differences as well as some big ones between two versions of the same song. the dead does not wright songs in stone and then set them on an alter to be never be tweaked again. there songs only exist as patters existing within a much larger patter. everthing is subgect to change and everything is coming out of nothing. responding to what just occored. i dunno :shrug: i guess i just like metaphores

No. Just kidding. But seriously nobody gives a fuck whether or not you like a certain kind of music or not.  I mean,  you might be into a band like ABBA  :rolleyes: or something that many of us may not dig no matter how much we try too.
