Ever feel like you'll never be asleep again?
    #6374056 -

I'm not talking about bodily rest, eyes closed, in bed, snuggling with the covers, twitching eyes, dreaming, nocturnal emissions..

Most people are asleep, all the time, and some people wake up. I don't think drugs can wake everybody up, but I know they woke me up, and that I realize for a time before I started exploring my own consciousness I was very much asleep, robotic, plodding along.

And yet, this is a blessing and a curse, now, in retrospect. Because there are times when it's immensely clear to me that the Trip never ends, that I am always on it, that I have carried the mindstate over into sober living, minus the perceptual disorders that come along with taking a sacrament, a drug, a hallucinogen, an entheogen, call it what you will.

There are times when I wish I was asleep but I know I'll never be asleep again. Sometimes I feel over-conscious. I breathe deeply, and try to clear my mind, but no matter what, every moment of life, no matter how infinitesimally small it is in the grand scheme of things, unfolds before my eyes as a reflection of the process known as LIFE that has been carrying on for billions of years. Sometimes I can't walk three blocks without feeling that I've experienced, in those moments, a metaphor or allegory for the unfolding of all time and history, simply by the way I've navigated bodies in a crowd.

I don't want to be asleep, I'm glad to be awake, but boy...this gets tiring sometimes.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

I think I understand where your coming from.  I sometimes find my self doing the same thing. During normal every day events, I would start to analyze things more of in the big picture.  And that everything that has come before me, has brought me to this very moment in life, in which I'm taking part in this task.  Its interesting to think about but it can become very tiring. (and distracting)

I think the act of "waking up" is a beautiful thing.  To really, truly, make that connection that your just another living organism among many thats experiencing all this, is a special thing.  I think the answer here lies in balance.  Balance in drugs, activities, eating right, exercise, setting and working towards goals.. ect.  I felt similar to the way I think you feel.  Once I started working on balance in my life, I really felt my mind calm down as it had new things to digest.  I still have all the awareness I had before, if not more, But I feel like I can harness it better. Good luck.

Harness - that's the key word.

I can relate.
I've had many experiences where i feel like i've got it all figured out, and that I could potentially be at a major advantage because of that.
But truthfully, I am often times more overwhelmed than enabled.
Like there is just TOO MUCH... and I need to filter it down.
Keep truckin' though
In your heart of hearts, you know what to do.

Check it out. It sounds like you might relate to this. Maybe not in the religious way that they refer to it, but in a similar way having to do with consciousness.
