Magickal names

Often, after being immersed in mystical knowledge for a while, a mystic will choose a new name for him or herself, which reflects the qualities that they wish to manifest. Today, I've chosen mine. I shall be Kamael, the fire of God. Kamael is an archangel associated with the Sefirot of Geburah. He is divine justice personified. While Michael is the commander of the armies of heaven, Kamael is said to be the champion of God, who is victorious over all evil. He does not engage in war, but is himsef an all-consuming fire, before whom no evil can endure. He burns away the klippoth, revealing the soul of light.

Does anyone else here have their own magickal or mystical name? Let's hear it, and the meaning behind it.

Ok, but do you think it wise to associate the name of an archangel with yourself? Would you rather invoke or evoke said archangel? The former would tend itself to greater danger. Get my drift?

Perhaps I am too harsh with my critique as you have already chosen the name. However, I will also note that most choose a name after an initiation of some sort. Also, those that procure a name usually do so after a formula or qabbalistically corresponding name rather than a demon, archangel, or god. For example, in your Martian case, one might choose AGLA or perhaps IH(15).

no offense, but i agree with lavod.

what if some day you want to actually communicate with Kamael via skrying or evocation? to me it would seem weird calling on an archangel whom i also call myself.

i wouldn't personally reveal my magical name here. but i will say that it is a name from a language that does not have a numerical alphabet like greek or hebrew. therefor there were several possibilites on transliteration into hebrew to derive a numerical value via gematria.

when i observed all the possible spellings i decided on the one which had the same numerical value of an angels name.

kamael=91
if you identify with this angel perhaps consider finding a name that also equals 91, or which can be reduced to 91 or somehow related to 91, in order to link yourself with that current of energy which is Kamael.
