PC to HDTV problem
    #6351792 -

Hello all, recently I purchased an Hdtv, Mitsubishi 1080p 57" DLP television. The computer I have downstairs is connected to the HDTV via ATI's All-In-Wonder 9000 video card. I have component cables coming from the video card to the televisions component inputs and I am only receiving a 480i signal from the pc, what is the prefered method to maximize my resolution from pc? Should I resort to VGA or can I get some sort of converter? My cable box is connected to my tv via hdmi with a 1080i signal. Any help would be appreciated.

I do PC to HDTV. I have a small 32" tube HDTV.

I have never tried using component cables. I use DVI to HDMI. With this I can get 720p. I should be able to get 1080i, but it comes out bad. I think I would need to play with the timings (ala powerstrip) to get it right, but I dont have time to fuck with it. 720p suits me find.

Maximize resolution use computer DVI to TV's DVI or HDMI.

Just remembered I have a 50' DVI to HDMI cable i need to sell.....

might be the limitations of your video card, i have an ati all-in-wonder 2006 that has a secondary vga connection that you use a converter w/ (that's sold separately) to a high definition tv...... i don't think component or s-video will be taking full advantage of the tv's capabilities.....

Component will put out a 720p signal, at least from my exprience with a modded xbox and the HD AV pack.

Svideo looks like shit compared to component (on HD anyways), but remember - Component and HDMI still put out an analog pic.

Also - you can get a DVI to HDMI cable, many DLP users do that.

On my samsung 50" - it has a VGA connecter and accepts 800x600 to max resolution. The picture is absolutely amazing if you have a VGA connector on the TV - even better than component.

The problem seems to be the signal being output from the computer. See if you can configure the output of the card in the settings.

You CAN carry an HD signal via component cables, so that isn't the problem.

My videocard is actually an ATI Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder, it has the capablility to hook up via the DVI or the Y, Pb, Pr cables, I have to run to the store and pick up a male cable but that should solve the problem. I will let you all know how it goes

If you're going to do it, you might as well use the DVI.

But just because you have the capability to hook something up via DVI or component cables, it doesn't necessarily mean you will be outputting an HD signal.

If you get it hooked up, google some 1080p videos and see what your TV can do
