I'm tired of waking up tired!
    #6335013 -

I seem to have this problem, I've had it since I can remember...

No matter how long I sleep, I wake up even more tired than when I went to sleep, it lasts like 4-5 hours after I wake up, doesn't matter if I go to sleep sober, stoned, drunk, doped up on sleeping pills, EVERYTIME I wake up I feel LIKE SHIT, physicaly, mentaly, and emotionaly.

I have lost jobs, failed all my classes in school, been a bitter asshole to my girlfriend every morning, in fact I have pretty much told her to not talk to me AT ALL for the first 20 mins I am awake, as I am a psychotic prick at that time... WTF is wrong with me.

Yes I have talked to my doctor about this, actualy I've talked to a few, they just tell me to go to bed earlier, even though I've told them a million times... IT DOESN"T MATTER HOW LONG I SLEEP, it could be 2 hrs or 14 hrs, I feel the same way EVERY morning.

I am also VERY prone to sleep paralysis, a subject no doctor I have ever talked to knows a thing about, but which I have recently heard may be linked to sleep apnea...

Can anyone help?
This is driving me insane.

Thanks in advance.

Do the most effective thing: combat your weakness. Exercise in the morning. You can have a snack like an apple and/or some water (protein mix optional).

Just so you know, it doesn't have to be a big exercise session. It's just necessary to stretch out and get moving enough to do what you need to do during the day. You will have to be careful and take it slow.

The most simple thing I can think of is to drink some water, take a shower, and then do the stretching/exercise.

:crankey: BAHH!! now I can't sleep tonight, fuck works gonna suck tommorow...

Anyway, I actualy do all that (stretching etc..) then I go to work, and I do it again, my job is very physical (loading 50+ pound windows into the back of a truck) and I don't snap out of my psychotic zombie like state until around the last shift, then I'm wide awake and in a good mood...

I forgot where I was going with that.

anyhoo, thanks for trying to help guys.

any other advice would be appreciated.

Consider the possibility that your zombie state could simply be a natural way of functioning and you might be loading yourself with a bunch of imaginary problems.

One thing that disturbs me more than the fact that I forgot to talk about this before is the fact that you are hostile towards your girl. There is no excuse for that. I don't care if you just got sliced into by a stealthy ninja star attack.. you should just ask your girl to call 911, urgently if you please.

Consider Navy Seals or Army Rangers or any other group like that. They go through stuff that would make your day look like a picnick in the austrian alps on an especially warm, spring day. So I have to say - find out what's important and do that.

Do you think it could be complete lack of natural light?

I live in canada, and right now it's dark when I wake up and go to work, then dark again when I get off, seems to make me depressed, probably fucking with my sleep too.

Yes, that is definitely a factor. You should go outside when possible. There has to be lunch time and other times to get some sun. Your body needs that.

WTF are you talking about, I have never attacked my girlfriend, and never will, I am just extremely bitter...

A naturual way of functioning? dude, if you saw me in this state, you would know it's not natural...

Imaginary problems? WTF?

You seem to be a little high on yourself man, I don't even know what the fuck your implying in the last paragraph, did I say anything other than my job is physical?

I forgot to add... I go to jeet kune do lessons afterwork on tuesdays and thursdays, muay thai kickboxing monday, wednsday, friday... It's not like I sit around with my thumb up my ass all day, like you seem to think... Really dude WTF was with that post.

:doublefu:

I am just being theoretical. That's why I said 'consider the possibility' and 'might'. I am doing so because you were not very descriptive about your problem and I am not sure how else to help you.

I morphed your words, 'psychotic prick', into hostility. Doesn't seem like that much of a stretch to me and it doesn't imply that you attacked her.

I never implied that you sit on your ass all day. You are on the only one getting angry over nothing here.

Get thyself to a sleep lab. Your current state is highly unnatural.

Depending on your physical state (unknown to us, but I'm guessing not bad, from your physical work/classes), level of activity (which seems good) diet, mattress, etc. you well could be experiencing sleep apnea, or some related sleep disorder.

Also, try getting/finding an approx. 1500 lux full-spectrum lamp and staring/working with your vision on/near it for 10-20 minutes in the morning.

Hope you figure it out soon.

heh, sorry, I think a double mis-understanding just happened... I am a little cranky right now as you can tell, you should use a smiley now and then to convey the mood of your typing (if that makes any sense) I got the wrong idea from that last post.

I'm going to try sleeping again, I'm getting weird.

It's cool, bro. I really should have used a =) because I was joking with you before about the picnic thing - I was just in a rush because I've been sitting down for hours now and my butt is sore. =)

I find that smoking a bowl in the morning is a good way to wake up, too.

A few people have mentioned light. Sunlight destroys melatonin, which is what makes you sleepy. There is a chance that you're either producing too much of it by not being around enough sunlight, or that you are not producing enough, by sleeping with lights on nearby.

If you don't already, try to sleep in complete darkness, and as soon as you wake up, take a stroll in bright sunlight. If you have a melatonin problem, then this would most likely help; but if you have some other issue, this won't help you at all.

Good luck

Thanks again everyone.

Dude. We need to know what drugs your taking. Humans are connected to the light dark cycle too...
To me it sounds like you get too much sleep. When i get too much sleep, like if i sleep 14 hours I feel tired the whole day. If you would, mabye try staying up 1 or 2 nights in a row, then the next night you will be so tired you will fall back into your natural sleep cycle. Has the problem been happening ever since you lived with your girlfriend? Maybe try sleeping in a different bed as silly as that sounds.. Peoples heat influences eachother.

It sounds to me like youre getting too much sleep, try staying up 1 or 2 nights in a row (with the aid of LSD?) then the day afterwards you will be tired and able to fall asleep. Note: dont take any painkillers or benzos or alcahol to make you sleep. Do you take downers to sleep? That could be it

EDIT: I just had a big change in my life, alot of emotional stress, I have been waking up before dawn everyday not feeling tired at all. Going to sleep at a normal hour of 10-11..

Maybe you are ignoring what the doctors tell you?

It is not the amount of sleep that counts. It is WHEN YOU SLEEP!
Thus, by going to sleep EARLIER, you do NOT SLEEP longer, NOR MORE!

You just go to bed after dark, sleep when it is dark, and wake up as the sun returns...

Maybe this is an interesting read?

BTW: I could not sleep for all in the world!

But now I sleep like a baby, and wake up like a God!

I hope I can share my experience, and show how I helped myself out of this hell...

Good luck!

I'll tell you right now, I defenitley don't get to much sleep, usualy around 6-10 hours.  It's interesting that you mention sleeping with my girlfreind, I have tried sleeping in a different bed, and it does make a pretty big difference now that I think about it. She likes to latch right on every night and as mean as this might sound, it drives nuts, the extra body heat and not being able to move keeps me awake sometimes... I've tried explaining this to her (not in a rude way of course), but she gets pretty hurt by it.

Taking LSD 2 nights in a row to stay awake is defenitley out of the question (although I wish it wasn't!) as I work everyday, and have a 3 year old daughter to take care of. I don't usualy take drugs to sleep, unless I am starting a new job after being unemployed for a while and been going to bed later than I should or something, or trying to adjust my sleep cycle to a new rythym... If I do, it's usualy diphenhydramine, or more rarley imovane (Zopiclone)

I think I'll try sleeping in a different bed without my girlfreind for a week, see if that helps.

All your guys' help is appreciated
