They have been for too long. I feel bad for any cops that may do a good, honest job. They get lumped in with all the assholes like this cunt whenever shit like this happens. I say we institute a zero tolerance policy for overzealous police. Take this bitch to the town square and hang her.

so..... what SHOULD the officer have done? I'm sure there's a policy about not touching kids, so instead of touching the kids to break them up they tazer them.

What's the big deal? The kids shouldn't have been fighting, especially since it was a boy beating a girl. Police officers tazer criminals if they're unable to physically stop the people fighting.... if a kid chooses to act like a badass and hit a girl, then the little future wife beater deserves to have a few volts of electric sent through his body.

She's a fucking police officer. If an officer in a school can't physically break up a fight than what good is she doing there besides guarding the teacher's lounge donuts?

She didn't even TRY to break up the fight. She just said "oh shit, fight..... TAZER!" Cops are just itching these days to taze the fuck out of anybody. She's a dumb cunt and deserves to be at least smacked across the face with a large trout while being tazed at the same time.

It says the tazer was used as a "last resort". Seriously, if this news report said the officer hit the kid with a night stick you'd be bitching about it. I'm positive you'd bitch about any force used to break up a fight. I'm pretty sure there's most likely some type of rule the cop has to go by that says not to use physical force with the kids b/c that can be skewed. Kids can say a cop hurt them or used uneccesary force and the school would get sued for it. a tazer has an exact voltage so it's pretty much a safe way to use force but also be able to prove in a court EXACTLY how much force was used instead of relying on testimonies of a CHILD. the kid was warned to stop, but he didn't. I'm pretty sure at the beginning of the school year the kids get a big safety talk and are made fully aware that the guards havee tazers.

anyway, stop whining about cops and realize the kid was doing something wrong in the first place.

I condone any police officer placed in any school physically PULLING a kid off of another kid when there is a fight. Nowhere in the article did it say the cop tried to do this. They used a verbal warning, then out came the tazer. Spout bullshit all you want about some imaginary policy of school cops not being able to break up a fight by physically prying kids apart, I'm not buying it. When I was in high school I saw school administrators yank kids off each other to break up fights. If a police officer can't do that then get rid of them. Your theory holds no water.

You think the parents of this kid won't try to sue for use of excessive force? I wouldn't put it past them.

Were you in the auditorium when the principal welcomed all the students on the first day and said "by the way, don't fuck with each other or the cops will taze your ass?" No, you weren't.

I'm not justifying the kid's choice to fight. The kid should be suspended/expelled/whatever. That doesn't concern me. What does concern me is cops using excessive and unnecessary force all too often.

On the other hand, if a police officer were to pull the kid off, the kid could say they were pulled too hard or the officer could have left bruises all of which could stand trial in a lawsuit for excessive force.

You're right, when you were in school kids were porobably yanked off each other during a fight... but were there as many frivolous lawsuits then as there are now? Think of a lot of things that are different today in schools to stop stupid lawsuits. Did you know some schools don't even publish an 'honor roll' list because parents of the kids who didn't make it sued some schools?

and no, I wasn't in the auditorium the first day of school, but I'm pretty sure to school HAS to tell kids and parents that their securty carries tazers.

don't make assumptions that the cop was just itching to tazer some poor kid, blame the sue-happy society we live in.

what would the punishment/penalty be if a taxpaying citizen fired a tazor into the body of an overzealous cop?

theyd either be shot dead or charged with assault causing bodily harm id bet

i seriously doubt the officer was overzealous. if someone has the tendecy to just want to tazer a kid for no reason, then hopefully they'd be weeded out during their initial evaluations to become an officer.

underpaid- probably. aren't we all though? what would you say if a mcdonald's employee tazered a customer? "oh, it's ok, he only makes $5.15 an hour for hard manual labor over hot griddles all day."

under-trained? probably. but what job truly provides thorough training? Have you EVER walked out of training for a job and performed the real job perfectly? I'm talking about a REAL job, not some pansy ass after-school bullshit at taco bell or blockuster. We all know training just provides a backbone to EXPERIENCE. So unless you are an EXPERIENCED cop, I don't think you have the right to say the officer was under trained.

She probably did the textbook procedure for the case. Now, I don't have a copy of the written procedure, and you don't either... however if this wasn't the procedure, the school would DEFINITELY make a statement saying that WASN'T procedure.


So, in a nutshell, 1) kid shouldnt have been fighting 2) kid was WARNED to stop 3) officer used her procedure to stop fight 4) the tazer is probably the school's "weapon of choice" because it's deemed safe therefore there will be no 'reasonable doubt' in anyone's mind about exactly how much force is used.

this is a completely irrelevant argument... however, just CURSING at an officer can be assault.

true, a lot of policemen are crooked assholes. I get that. I was arrested once by an asshole cop who wouldn't even listen to a word i said and made me sit in tightass cuffs for over 2 hours, even though I was extrememly cooperative and peaceful and posed no threat

it's all about respect. True, a lot of them don't deserve it... but 'disrespect' is translated to 'assault' when it comes to police.

its hard raising kids to respect cops when you hate them so much but you have to for common senses sake and their own self protection

our cops want tazors too,they must like watching the people scream on those videos,i know they like making you scream physically irl but that can be demanding on them physically and mentally after swearing to protect and serve and doing the opposite all the time

this reminds me of my last court case i won against the cops and man that pig wouldnt look at me in court and when he was up on the stand lying that i had no injuries and he caught a glimpse of the big colourful photographs of the wounds on my knees being held in my solicitors hands as he questioned him he went as red as a beetroot and i could see his sworn oath he took when he joined the gang in blue burning in his eyes,he was frowning and bright red,the judge knew too :lol

i like cops. you think if you randomly starting hugging a cop it would be assult?
so if tazzing a cop would be assult than hugging would have the same force as tazzing... thus logic must be that a tazzer has the same stopping power as a hug....
and hugs must be equally as dangerous as tazzers...

ive seen them threaten arrest on women that have tapped them on the shoulder to get their attention on that cops show
